STORMWATER TIP OF THE WEEK

Excess fertilizer from lawns and gardens can wash into storm drains and nearby rivers or lakes. The extra nutrients fuel algal blooms, which reduce oxygen in the water and can lead to fish kills. Use fertilizer sparingly, follow label directions, and avoid applying before rain.
