✈️ Because of You, Dreams Take Flight 💙

“My love for aviation began at the age of seven, and I knew then that I wanted to serve my country as a pilot. My parents always instilled in me the importance of education, but they also made it clear I would need to find my own way to pay for college. Funding my education felt like a daunting obstacle — especially knowing the financial realities of a police officer’s family. The Montana Police Protective Association Memorial Scholarship Fund became my lifeline, the critical support that made my dream possible.”
— Colton, MPPA Memorial Scholarship Recipient

Today, Colton is in Aircraft Commander Upgrade training, living that dream every day as a KC-135 pilot — traveling the world, serving and protecting in his own way, and honoring his father’s legacy.

Your generosity changes lives. 💙

OFF-DUTY POLICE OFFICER TRIED TO SAVE A LIFE: Yesterday evening, a tragic car accident occurred in Bozeman, involving a car and a motorcycle. What stood out in this heartbreaking situation was the swift and selfless response of both on-duty and off-duty police officers. An off-duty Belgrade Police Department officer happened upon the scene and immediately sprang into action, performing CPR on the motorcyclist until more medical help arrived. Despite the best efforts, the rider sadly passed away. The investigation, led by Montana Highway Patrol and Bozeman Police Department detectives, is ongoing. Preliminary findings suggest the motorcycle was traveling at a high speed before the crash. Thanks.

Today, we honor the memory of retired MPD Sergeant Robert J. Heinle, who passed away 15 years ago, on February 12, 2010, due to complications from being shot in the line of duty on October 21, 1998. Bob was 38 years old when he was injured and passed away just two days after his 47th birthday.

A husband, son, brother, friend, and dedicated officer, Bob’s impact extended beyond his badge—especially to his niece, Kadie Heinle, who knew him simply as “Uncle Bob.”

On that fateful evening in 1998, Sergeant Heinle responded to a forgery in progress and was shot while pursuing the suspect. Despite surviving, he was paralyzed from the shoulders down. With unwavering strength, he and his wife, Lisa, spent the next 11 years making the most of their time together.

Lisa later founded I Run for Bob, a non-profit organization that supports paralyzed and disabled individuals and their families.
Please take a moment today, and every October 21st, to remember Bob, his family, and all the officers whose lives were forever changed by this tragic event. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.
