KACHUR TRAIL UPDATE -REOPENED

1. The trail is dry enough to open, however there are several washed out areas throughout the trail.
2. Pelicans have taken over portions of the trail — foot traffic may help encourage them to move out of the area.
3. The trail beyond the bridge is currently passable, but there are additional washed out spots and caution is strongly advised.
4. The far east (lakeside) end of the trail has multiple bad areas. Dave was unable to make it all the way through with his UTV.

At this time, we feel the trail can reopen, but we strongly encourage everyone to use extreme caution — especially beyond the bridge

Thank you to everyone helping monitor and maintain the trails!

Next time you’re out there, be sure to check out the new brochure that will soon be available at the parking lot entrance—it’s a great addition for anyone exploring the island.

However, there is still quite a bit of damage to the trail. We recommend avoiding use of this trail until conditions improve.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as things change. Stay tuned!
