Residents, crews have been on site since Monday as part of the new 18-inch culvert installation project. This project was originally scheduled to begin in June, but the timeline was moved up so improvements could begin sooner.
Please note this work is being completed by a contractor the water company uses for many of their local infrastructure projects. Our maintenance department is not performing the roadwork itself, but they have been assisting with oversight, communication, coordination needs, and working alongside the Board throughout the process.
This project is being funded through money the water company previously allocated in its budget for infrastructure projects they are overseeing within the community, resulting in no direct cost to the community for this work.
You may have noticed utility markings throughout the area over the past several days. These markings are a required safety step to help crews identify underground utilities and avoid damaging power, communication, water, or other service lines during excavation.
Today, crews will be making saw cuts in the roadway to prepare the area for excavation. This is a normal part of the process and helps create clean cuts in the pavement before digging begins. Actual excavation and culvert installation work is expected to begin next week.
Over the course of the project, the process generally includes:
• Marking and preparing the work area
• Saw-cutting and removing sections of roadway
• Excavating the area around the existing drainage pipe
• Installing the new 18-inch culvert
• Backfilling and compacting stone and soil around the pipe
• Restoring the roadway surface and surrounding drainage areas
Residents should expect construction equipment, workers, materials, and possible traffic delays in the area while work is underway. Please slow down, use caution near work zones, and follow any temporary traffic control measures in place.
This project has taken significant planning, coordination, and follow-through since this Board took over, and residents are now seeing real progress and work actively being completed rather than promises without action.
We hope this overview helps answer some questions about the process and what residents may be seeing over the next several days. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as these drainage and roadway improvements move forward.
