2025 CACF Un-Restricted Endowment Community Betterment Grant Recap:

Harrop Park, Loup County Highway 183 vault bathroom

The Calamus Area Community Fund provided grant funding to the Loup County Historical Society for the installation of a single-stall vault toilet at Harrop Sandhills Park. Harrop Park is located in Loup County off Highway 183. Harrop has approximately 45 interpretive signs describing native place species, Sandhills history, and range management practices along the 1/3-mile walking trail. With the Nebraska Sandhills being selected as a unique destination for visitation by Atlas Obscura, a national travel organization, Harrop is one of the few, if not the only, public opportunities for visitors to experience the Sandhills without receiving permission for access to private property. Pack a lunch, enjoy the drive, and visit Harrop Park. Do not forget to sign the visitors' book in the mailbox.
