Hold on to your hose this is a long read!!
While Troy Homecoming did not end the way anyone wanted it to with the parade being canceled due to the storm passing through, keeping everyone safe was understandable. BUT that did not stop us from still getting the kids dressed and on our float ~ we had HEART HISTORY & HEROS!! proudly ready to roll down the parade route, the Fire Department was bringing a living slice of America's story to life with our shining Liberty Bell, escorted by adorable little patriots dressed as Betsy Ross, Pocahontas, Sacajawea, the smallest Statue of Liberty, Theodore (Teddy) Roosevelt, and if you look quickly you can catch one of Teddy's famous ROUGH RIDERS, all honoring the people who shaped our nation. With sirens of celebration and spirit of service, we saluted 250 years of courage, community and America dream. Also Benjamin Franklin hitched a ride, the man who helped kick off America's very first bucket brigade. Back in the day, Ben rallied neighbors with buckets, teamwork, and a whole lot of determination. Today, he traded those buckets for horsepower, hoses and a ranger that can put out fires faster than he can say "Join the brigade!"
What could not have been any better is all of these kids are 3rd, 4th & 5th generations of fire man and women. SO yes, while it was sad that the parade did not happen (we will come back bigger, better & a few more kids next year) the sense of family and community that was at the Troy Township Fire Department Geauga Co. waiting for the storm to pass was amazing!! We want to thank the amazing men and women that worked tirelessly to put on a great Troy Homecoming weekend except for the storm that was out of there control the rest of the weekend was great!! We are looking forward to Troy homecoming 2027 and we are looking forward to see you at the Troy Fireman Association Clam Bake on Sept 19th. Stop in and get your tickets now before we are sold out!!

We would like to shout out a great big THANK YOU to Dumpster Bandit LLC for donating the use of a dumpster for our clambake. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters of the Thompson Fire Department and Brooke's Family. It is extremely difficult to loose one of your own!

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our own, Brooke Jewell. She died this morning as a result of injuries sustained in a single-vehicle accident.

Although Brooke was with the department for a short time, she made a meaningful and lasting impact on those who had the privilege to serve alongside her. She will be deeply missed.
