🐾Sometimes the smallest puppies have the biggest fights ahead of them.❤️

Jake came to us as a foster puppy with his two sisters when he was only about 6 or 7 weeks old. He was a chunky, happy little chocolate puppy, the kind of puppy who seemed to have his whole life ahead of him.

At around 9 weeks old, Jake became extremely sick and was hospitalized with parvo.

For nearly two weeks, this tiny puppy fought for his life. Tragically, one of his sisters didn't survive. When Jake was finally able to leave the hospital, he weighed less than seven pounds, but his fight still wasn't over. He wouldn't eat. He was weak and so sick that he had to return to the hospital two more times.

His foster refused to give up on him.

They would hold Jake against their chest and hand-feed him tiny bites of canned chicken, doing whatever they could to help this little puppy find the strength to keep fighting.

Slowly, Jake got stronger. ❤️

Seven years later, that tiny puppy who once had to be held against someone's chest just to eat is happy, healthy, and thriving.

He loves squeaky bones and lives for fetch. Jake will happily keep going until the human throwing the ball physically cannot throw it anymore. An automatic ball thrower seemed like the perfect solution.

Jake strongly disagreed. 😂

Apparently, endless fetch only counts when a human does the throwing.

Today, Jake's life looks very different from those terrifying weeks when no one knew what his future would hold. And that is exactly why rescue matters.

Behind dogs like Jake are foster families who open their homes, volunteers who give their time, veterinary teams who provide lifesaving care, and donors who make it possible for us to keep saying yes when an animal desperately needs help.

Adoption Opportunity. Meet Bam Bam! He is 10 weeks old, 9 lbs, and all puppy! Bam Bam loves to play with his foster siblings, cuddle on the couch, and play with toys. He sleeps through the night and is working very hard on potty training!

We don’t know what breed Bam Bam is…he may be part Black Mouth Cur and Aussie? what we do know is that he’s 100% adorable and sweet as can be!

Adoption Opportunity: Yo. Biggie is in the (foster) house. People act like I am huge with that name. I am only a handsome 24 pounds. I heard someone say I would be about 60 pounds growed up. Tho, they could mean my BIG appetite 🥩 or my BIG BIGGIE heart. ❤️ I am 5 months young.

I don't know what I am. Some yellow lab? Whippet? Hound? Handsome? Ball retriever? 🏐 Your best friend?

I live with a black cat now. I don't cross his path tho cuz this Biggie has already had enough bad luck. Dogs and kids are more my jam tho.

I was tricked into getting neutered ✂️, and because I was good I got a rabies tag? I was thinking more McNuggets as consolation. Am I wrong?

I would rather sleep in a bed than a crate. I like to run. I am learning to go potty outside....it's crazy how humans get excited about that. This leash thing, startin to dig it.

I would be happiest if I wasn't alone a lot, or had another dog, or someone that doesn't mind me following you everywhere. Hey. A guy gets lonely.

I am not a fraidy cat, but getting use to life on the outside. I absolutely do not get startled by the squeaker they put in toys. I trust a tennis ball anyday. They don't talk back.

I show everyone I can wag my tail a LOT. Can't go wrong with that move. My foster's tell me I am the best boy. Startin to believe them.
