Carol L. Murphy, owner, operator, kind and generous soul of Murphy Orchards and the McClew Interpretive center passed on May 22nd, 2014. Her memorial service will be held at 2PM on June 9th, 2014 at the farm she loved with all her heart. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the McClew Interpretive Center(https://shop.wnynetworks.net/~murphyor/donations.php3) would be greatly appreciated. The farm, Tea Room, and McClew Interpretive Center will continue to operate normally.

Sunday, August 4! An Underground Railroad narrated walk will be led by New York State Park interpreters in costume, describing the escape of an enslaved person from the South seeking freedom in Canada. There will also be an Underground Railroad display next to the barn.

This is a Free Program by the New York State Park Niagara Region Programs Office.

The McClew Interpretive Center at Murphy Orchards has received a $10,000 award from the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area to help in a project developed to create and market a self-guided Underground Railroad walking tour along walking trails through the authentic McClew Farmstead landscape.

In a press release, the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area Commission announced: "The awards support important projects and programs throughout the National Heritage Area with the long term goal of realizing community betterment. Awarded projects reflect the mission and goals of the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area and fall into one of the following broad categories: Historic and Cultural Resource Preservation, Natural Resource Conservation and Stewardship, Promotion of Recreation, Interpretation and Orientation, Community Revitalization, Tourism Development and Marketing or Education. The NFNHA is excited to have the opportunity to support local organizations that are diligently working hard to preserve, protect and promote the remarkable cultural, historical, and natural resources within the Niagara Falls National Heritage Area."
