☀️ The Countdown to Summer is officially ON!
We are ALMOST ready for the fun to begin at BHBL Summer Rec, and the energy around here is already through the roof. I am thrilled to welcome our new assistant directors and a team of energetic, dedicated counselors who are all eager to get to work. This summer, we will be hosting about 200 students. Our staff is looking forward to a fantastic month with your children, and we have a wonderful lineup of activities planned. Our goal is to ensure every camper has a safe, engaging experience while building lasting friendships and memories. Below is some really important information: especially the information involving drop off and pick up.
Location: Stevens Elementary School
Time: 8:30am-2:30 pm
Website: https://bhblsummerrec.com/
page: facebook.com/BHBLSummerRec
Email address: [email protected]
Phone Number: 518-598-7018 (director’s cell phone)- Please feel free to call or text, but it is important to identify yourself.

IMPORTANT: Pick up/Drop off: (PLEASE READ)
Since there is no pick-up and drop off bussing this year, I am a bit concerned about traffic congestion. The goal is to not have people on Lake Hill Rd. I have made a map with directions for both drop-off and pick—up. Please follow the directions. I want kids to be safe and for there to be no traffic issues. If everyone works together, I am sure we can make this work in an efficient manner.

Early Drop off (7:30 am- additional fee)
Please use the main loop in front of Stevens Elementary School. There will be an adult outside to greet you each morning. Please do not leave children unsupervised as the building is locked.

Regular Drop off (8:30am)
Transportation will take place in TWO areas: the Stevens Parking lot and the Transportation Parking lot.
For cars, students going into grade 1, please use the Stevens Parking lot in front of the playground. Drop off will begin at 8:30am. There will be staff there to greet children and get them to where they need to go.
For cars with students entering grade 2-7, we will be using the Transportation Parking lot for morning drop off. Drop off will begin at 8:30am. For the first few days, there will be police officers to help BHBL Summer Recreation Staff with the drop off process. (PLEASE SEE THE MAP)
Please have children on the right hand side of the car ready to exit the vehicle. We will quickly unload children and parents can proceed through the traffic pattern and exit the parking lot.
There will be counselors to help safely es**rt your children to the school.
If at all possible, please think about how you arrive in the morning. We would like cars to make “right hand turns” into both parking lots and “right hand turns” exiting both parking lots.
If you need to speak to a director, please PARK in the parking lot in front of the playground. A director will be there to answer any questions.
Do not use the loop in front of the school during drop-off. This is for school personnel only.

Dismissal will begin at 2:25 pm

If your child is attending the ENCORE program, a bus will leave Stevens at 2:25 PM and get them to the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church by 2:30 pm
Parents will need to park to pick their child/ren up. You must park your vehicle and sign your children out at the assigned door. You can park in the following areas:
lot to in front of the playground (the gates will be open for additional parking)
transportation parking lots with the front of your car facing the school. Cars MUST pull onto the grass. (MAP)
There is additional parking past the bus garage (in front of the parked buses) that can be utilized as well.
DO NOT PARK ON LAKE HILL RD.
Pick-up
If your child/ren last name starts with the letters “A-H” you will pick your children up at the side door.
If your child/ren last name starts with the letters “I-R” you will pick up your children at the front entrance to the left of the building.
If your child/ren last name starts with letters “S-Z” you will pick up your children at the front entrance to the right of the building.
If you need to speak to the director or assistant director please inform the person in charge of dismissal at your assigned door and they will radio us.

Early Pick-Up:
If you are picking your child up early, it is always helpful that we know ahead of time. Please use our website and complete the attendance form. Please come see one of the directors in the office and we will get your child so you can be on your way. Please use the front entrance when picking up your child early.

Summer Recreation Handbook:
Each year we update the Summer Recreation Handbook. It provides lots of important information. Please take a moment to look through it. It is located on our website. Please email the director with any questions ([email protected]).

Attendance:
We will take attendance every day between 8:30-8:45 am. If your child is going to be absent or late, please complete the attendance form located on our website. If the form is not completed and your child is not present at Summer Rec, we will call to confirm his or her absenteeism.

Behavior Expectations:
Summer Rec is a time for laughing, fun, and activities. It is also a time to be respectful to the staff, as well as to other children in the program, Stevens Elementary and the property of teachers who are graciously allowing us to use their classrooms. Students who make poor choices will receive consequences and parents/guardians will be notified. For more information on expectations, please reference the parent handbook on our website.

Swimming:
Please make sure children bring their bathing suits, towels, and have dry clothes to change into. It is important that all items (towels, goggles, swimsuits are labeled with name). There is a certified pool director on site, as well as trained lifeguards. Kids in grades 1-3 will have “swim lessons”, as well as some free time to swim. Kids in grades 4-6 will have free swim time. We have kick board as well as certified floatation devices for children, In addition, the director will organize activities and have theme days for the children to participate in. We will do our best to include a weekly swim schedule. For the first week please send in swim clothes each day.

Camp Store:
Campers have the option to purchase items at the Summer Rec store. There will be drinks (water, flavored water, Gatorade), assorted candy, granola bars, brownies, and freeze pops to name a few. This year we will offer hotdogs ($2.00) on a daily basis for kids to purchase as well. We try to make sure items are reasonably priced. Banking money has been an issue the last couple years so it will be a cash service only. We will also have “Pizza Fridays.” (except for Week one- Thursday). Students will get two slices of pizza and a drink for $8.00. You can sign up for the pizza order on our website (bhblsummerrec.com)

Field trips:
Schedules for field trips and activities will be posted the week prior. Once again, parents will sign up for field trips and activities online. You will be able to pay for them online as well. Field trips and activities have an additional cost and have deadlines to register. Because of the limited space on buses, there will be a “cap” on the number of children we can take. I will need to know how many children we are taking so we can staff properly and inform the businesses we are visiting. We were awarded a grant by Saratoga County this year. Some Field trips will be paid for in part by this very generous grant.

**The field trip registration form will be updated weekly in advance of the planned activities. Registrations will be accepted on a first come first serve basis**
The WEEK ONE link will be available online and a “WEEK ONE REGISTRATION IS OPEN” notification email will be sent to you soon and shared on our page as well. THIS WILL OPEN ON WEDNESDAY, JUNE 24, 2026 at 8 pm. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER PRIOR TO THIS TIME AND DATE. IT WILL NOT BE HONORED.
