🥳🥳🥳It is with overwhelming gratitude that we announce some very big news from today! The Haraden Family of Mohawk Honda and Mohawk Chevrolet donated a brand new Honda Odyssey to The Charlton School this morning at their annual Haraden Family Golf Tournament, held at The Edison Club. We could not be more thankful and excited for this amazing and generous donation to our mission. Our students and families will directly benefit from this van, as we continue to strengthen our Family Connections program.

Shout out to our friends at CAPTAIN Community Human Services, who also got a van today! 👏👏👏

What an incredible morning! We are elated to be a continued recipient of the Haraden Family's generosity. ☀️💜

For the second year in a row, we were happy to host the second graders from Charlton Heights Elementary School for a field trip to our campus, where they learned about the importance of pollinators!

We are thankful to our science teachers, our friend Anna, the Saratoga Bee Lady, and our students, who helped make it a very special visit.

We love this connection and hope the students and their teachers enjoyed their time here as much as we did! 🐝🪻

We are so thankful to Youth Forward Foundation, who stopped by today with a well-deserved grant for one of our seniors, as she preps to head off to college in the fall to begin her journey toward Companion Animal Veterinary Medicine.

Pictured are Isabelle Sondhof, whose family started Youth Forward Foundation, with Brenya and her dad, Tom. We are all thrilled to see Brenya's hard work recognized, and we know the Sondhof family will be excited to know there's another future veterinarian in the mix!

We are continually grateful for partnerships like these that recognize the accomplishments of our students and lend their support behind our mission. Congratulations to Brenya, and thanks to Youth Forward Foundation and the Sondhof family for fueling opportunities for youth in our community.

Today was our 10th Annual Equine Expo at The Charlton School and it was an incredible success due to the hard work and dedication of our students, their equine partners, our Director of Equine Services, Jess, and our equine support team.

Thank you to all of the families and community members who showed their support, and to our volunteers who hung in there with us despite some rain.

We are so proud of our students who are showing incredible progress in their equine therapy.

What a great day! ☀️🐴

We shared a meaningful visit last Friday from some key members of the NYS Justice Center, who took the time to tour our campus, learn more about our programs and our mission, and hear directly from us on how we successfully support our students with their oversight.

About the Justice Center:
The Justice Center is a state agency charged with creating a safer, more inclusive New York. The agency investigates allegations of abuse and neglect in the state’s human services programs – such as those offered through the Office of Children and Family Services, the Office of Mental Health, and the NYS Education Department. As the only state in the country with such broad and dedicated oversight, the Justice Center establishes a national standard for safeguarding people receiving state care. The agency’s commitment to seeking justice is also inseparable from its education and training efforts. Through rigorous monitoring activities and developing comprehensive staff resources, the Justice Center is consistently finding new ways to prevent, protect, and advocate for all New Yorkers.

Having the opportunity to strengthen this connection by enhancing their knowledge of our work, as well as us learning more about theirs, is a testament to the continued success of our programming and their commitment to supporting the agencies they serve.

We are thankful for their visit and for their continued guidance and support.

It was a perfect sunny day to host our friends from Sunmark Credit Union & Sunmark Charitable Community Foundation! ☀️

As longtime supporters of The Charlton School, we got to give them a tour of our beautiful campus and to see the new construction. 🏘️

We're also incredibly grateful for their generous contribution of $2500 toward our Career Development and Occupational Studies program. 💼

We are excited to continue our connection with them on more projects in the future. Thank you, Audrey, Christina, Guy and Ryan for visiting today! We can't wait to see you again soon. 💜

On this (finally) sunny ☀️ Friday, we'd like to recognize some generous and thoughtful funders who've recently stepped up to support our Career Development and Occupational Studies program (CDOS).

Through the highly individualized support we provide, CDOS combines the importance of both educational and clinical support; students learn and experience opportunities to build a rewarding career path that suits their individual needs and empowers their personal purpose.

Thanks to the following funders, our CDOS program has received a much needed boost through donations and pledges, helping to ensure more opportunities and access for our students as they focus on their next steps after high school graduation.

💛The Seymour Fox Memorial Foundation, Inc.
💛Dake Family Foundation/Stewart's Shops
💛Picotte Family Foundation
💛Sunmark Credit Union

At The Charlton School, we know that physical activity boosts mental wellness, and we're grateful for the partners in our community who step up to support the needs of our students.

Thanks to a Stewart's Holiday Match Grant, we'll be installing this beautiful new basketball hoop on campus for our students to use in both physical education class and during their free time, after school and on weekends. We are thankful for this opportunity to increase physical activity and peer connection--both of which make a positive difference in one's mental health. THANK YOU!
