Yancey Humane Society Tails on Trails These walks occur every Sunday and Wednesday morning. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, link found on this page.

Always check the schedule and sign up in Better Impact which is the database for volunteers of the Yancey Humane Society. These walks will be held at the Cane River Park in Burnsville, NC. Walkers must first submit an application to volunteer which can be found on the Yancey Humane Society website page, www.yanceyhumanesociety.org. Walkers must sign up ahead of time through the volunteer database, Better Impact. Walkers will arrive at the Yancey Humane Society by 10:00 am and a dog will be harnessed and brought out to each walker. The walk will range from 3/4 to 3 miles, and volunteers may do as many or as few laps as they wish. Volunteers will be walking with an excited shelter dog and walk leaders will do their best to match each walker with an appropriate fog. Some dogs may pull some, so come prepared! It's a great way to meet new friends, give the shelter dogs some much needed exercise and get out in the great outdoors. We would love for you to join us!

What a day on the trail! 🍂🐾 Sunshine, a crisp 50 degrees, and fall colors at their peak. Five hikers and five happy pups made the most of it. We had veteran hikers Apex and Burrito along with first timers Catelyn, Bartolito and Cujo. Also welcome to new hiker Deb.

Hello Tails on Trails crew. Just a quick note that Sunday hikes will begin at 10:00 a.m. going forward. We're expecting it to be sunny tomorrow with temps in the 40s and 50s (aka perfect hiking weather), not to mention seeing the leaves change up close. Come on out and support our amazing shelter and get some great dogs out for a nice hike!

It was a good day for Caitlyn, Nettle, Oolong, Hotdog, and Ben who got to spend the morning frolicking at the Center for Pioneer Life with 9 wonderful volunteers from Ally Bank. Everyone had a great time! Many thanks to the volunteers from Ally Bank for giving up their morning in the office to play with cuddly dogs (I know - bummer right?). Many thanks also to the Center For Pioneer Life for allowing us to invade their amazing farm for this outing and get the dogs out of the shelter for a few hours. Finally, thanks to Bob S for the help making sure that everyone stayed safe and that no dogs escaped.

It was a foggy, damp, start to the day today but the fog lifted, the sun came out, and 4 happy shelter dogs got to spend the morning walking around downtown Burnsville. Many thanks to the volunteers who came out in the fog to take a dog for a walk. Russ walked Viviana, John walked Tangelo, Karen walked Burrito, and Pam walked Ickett. A good time was had by all!
