Yancey Humane Society Tails on Trails

These walks occur every Sunday and Wednesday morning. Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, link found on this page.

Always check the schedule and sign up in Better Impact which is the database for volunteers of the Yancey Humane Society. These walks will be held at the Cane River Park in Burnsville, NC. Walkers must first submit an application to volunteer which can be found on the Yancey Humane Society website page, www.yanceyhumanesociety.org. Walkers must sign up ahead of time through the volunteer database,

Better Impact. Walkers will arrive at the Yancey Humane Society by 10:00 am and a dog will be harnessed and brought out to each walker. The walk will range from 3/4 to 3 miles, and volunteers may do as many or as few laps as they wish. Volunteers will be walking with an excited shelter dog and walk leaders will do their best to match each walker with an appropriate fog. Some dogs may pull some, so come prepared! It's a great way to meet new friends, give the shelter dogs some much needed exercise and get out in the great outdoors. We would love for you to join us!

It was such a pretty (and warm) day for exploring the beautiful grounds of the Center for Pioneer Living. Three happy dogs, three happy humans.

The small but mighty Sunday Tails on Trails hiking crew was in full force today, with some happy dogs that mastered the skills of sniffing, river guzzling, grass wallowing, and full-on fun. If you love hiking and dogs, join us.

Thanks to The center for Pioneer Life, 4 lucky shelter dogs got to spend a morning away from the chaos and relax in nature. Sadie, Juniper, Daisy, and Lansing were escorted by Russ, Addison, Worth, and Karen respectively. Both dogs and walkers had a great time! And going forward, Wednesday Tails on Trails walks will continue to take place at the Center for Pioneer Life. Thanks again to the Center for inviting us to walk our dogs there.

We are grateful to Center for Pioneer Life for permitting us to use their beautiful space for our Sunday hike, it makes the shelter dogs so happy to be outdoors. If you'd like to visit the Center, they do guided tours and other events. Happy Mother's Day, enjoy your day!

Small turnout today but we were able to get Cheech and Sadie out for a nice hike. These hikes are every Sunday at 9:30 so please sign up on Better Impact if you're interested in joining!

Four happy shelter dogs got out for some much needed exercise and a break from kennel life this morning in downtown Burnsville. Many thanks to the volunteers who came out despite the forecast for rain that never happened. Russ walked Cheech, Karen walked Jinx, Pam walked Lansing, and Bob walked Sammy. Everyone had a great time!
