Women's Veterans Recognition Day is observed each year on June 12, which marks the anniversary of the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act that was signed into law by President Harry S. Truman and granted women the right to serve as permanent, regular members of the U. S. Armed Forces. The day serves as a reminder that women's military contributions were often overlooked in earlier generations, and to recognize their service and sacrifices.

D-Day Remembrance 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.

On that historic day, thousands of Allied troops faced overwhelming odds as they fought to liberate Europe from tyranny. Their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom changed the course of history and secured the liberties we cherish today.

Many never returned home. Others carried the physical and emotional scars of war for the rest of their lives. All answered the call of duty when their nation and the world needed them most.

As Blue Star Mothers, we understand the sacrifices made not only by those who serve, but also by the families who love and support them. Today, we honor the heroes of D-Day and remember the generations of service members who have followed in their footsteps.

May we never forget the courage displayed on the shores of Normandy, the sacrifices made for freedom, and the legacy left by the Greatest Generation.

We remember.
We honor.
We are forever grateful.

Yes, this is a long post that we’re sharing. It’s worth the read.

Remember the reason for this weekend.

"Memorial Day was never meant to just be a long weekend. It is a sacred pause.
A moment to remember that freedom has always cost somebody something.

It is the sound of children laughing in a country men and women died protecting.
It is the silence at dinner tables where a seat never got filled again.
It is folded flags pressed into trembling hands.
Dog tags tucked away in old wooden boxes.
Wedding rings still worn by widows decades later.
Parents who kissed their child goodbye one last time without knowing it would be the last.

Memorial Day is not about those who served only.
It is about those who never made it home.
The ones who gave birthdays, anniversaries, future grandchildren, quiet mornings, ordinary Tuesdays… all of it… for a country they believed was worth protecting.

Somewhere this weekend, a mother is still grieving a son who died in uniform.
Somewhere, a child only knows their father through photographs and stories.
Somewhere, an old flag hangs carefully folded because it is all a family has left to hold onto.

And yet here we are… living the very life they fought for.

The freedom to gather.
To worship.
To raise our children in peace.
To laugh loudly on porches under an American sky.
To argue, dream, build businesses, fall in love, and live ordinary lives without fear.

Those ordinary moments we so easily rush through were paid for by extraordinary sacrifice.

So yes, enjoy the sunshine.
Hold your babies close.
Laugh around the grill.
Watch the fireworks.
Wave the flag proudly.

But before this weekend ends, stop for a moment and remember the men and women who laid down their lives for people they would never even meet.

Because Memorial Day is not just the celebration of freedom.
It is the remembrance of the people who gave everything so America could still have it. 🇺🇸"

On Tuesday, we proudly recognized students from Burnsville High School and the Burnsville area who have made a commitment to serve our country in the military at a meeting of the Burnsville City Council. This year, we honored 13 students who have selected to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, and Minnesota National Guard.
Thank you to all of our community partners who work with us to recognize these students: ISD 191 Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District, Burnsville Savage Lions, Two Eagles Marine Detachment, City of Burnsville, Minnesota - Municipal Government, and City of Savage - Government.

Are you looking for a way to support deployed troops? Check out this great opportunity with Beyond the Yellow Ribbon - Rosemount, MN!

ATTENTION!!!

This is one of our 'WHY' moments...as in WHY the BTYR exists. We've got Airmen, Sailors, Soldiers and Marines downrange (in the Middle East, location undisclosed), working their tails off, crazy-long hours for shifts, just doing their jobs, and they're short on basics. They could use our help.

They need to hear from YOU...from US...the community of Rosemount. Let them know they matter to us all! Check out the posted graphic for the needed info.

We'll (the BTYR) will have more info coming soon with regards to putting together care packages. We're looking at this coming Saturday morning to put together the care packages...MTC.

Take note...the 'mail basket' drop-off is at Rosemount CITY HALL!
