This beautiful girl is STILL AVAILABLE!! Both her brothers have found their ‘forevers' and now Miss Emma needs hers!
Beautiful Emma Kristine is a 10 yr sable-headed white female who was surrendered to MWCR after her mom passed away. She was previously a therapy/service dog for PTSD and is a sweet, gentle mannered girl in need of a loving retirement home.
Since coming into foster Emma has been on a diet and at 82 pounds should still lose a little bit more - although Emma's not 100% sure she agrees 😉. Like most senior girls she's on some medications (Proin ER, Carprofen, and Thyroxine) and is doing really well on her current dosages. At this time she's also getting a mini-mani on one paw every other day for a chronic pad inflammation and accepts that gracefully in true diva style.
Emma walks beautifully on and off leash and has very good recall. She is housetrained and although we were told she was crate trained, she's really not interested in going into one. Fortunately, she's a Very Good Girl, so it hasn't been an issue. She prefers ramps to stairs and has not attempted to climb a full flight to the second level of her foster home. Since she loves to be near her people at night she has requested a nice single story home please. Emma is excellent with other dogs and good with cats. We haven't observed her with children but her former family had lots of grandchildren visit.

Lovely Mango, 8 yr sable/white female, has found her permanent home and will be living in IA. She came to us when we got a call from a shelter asking for help. Mango had been in a home with two other Collies and some sheep, however when the owner became ill the dogs & sheep were heavily neglected. His owner was taken to the hospital after a welfare check and the animals were surrendered to the local authorities. Mango’s coat was in very bad shape when she arrived at the shelter, filthy and covered with f***s & urine and, apparently, she had been eating the majority of the food because she was quite a bit chunkier than was healthy for her. Fortunately, her foster mom has helped her slim down and although she has some quirks that might not make her the best companion for everyone, like stealing the neighbor's cow skull landscaping decoration 😂, she has found a loving home with her foster mom's pack.

Unfortunately Millie (I think her original name was Precious with MWCR) passed away a couple of weeks ago. We absolutely adored her and had her for 11 years. She was the best and was so protective of our family and one of the sweetest, smartest dogs we have had. The house definitely feels empty without her and our 3.5 year old dog still looks for her. I just wanted to thank you for getting her to us. We feel so lucky to have had 11 years with her.

Here is a more recent picture with our 10 year old Greta and one of our cats. Millie was the one on the right. She adored my husband and he definitely misses her.

Handsome Finn is enjoying his summer and a bit of boating 🚤. Finn was originally surrendered to MWCR in 2016 as a puppy because he needed heart surgery to correct a birth defect known as a PDA. His foster mom cared for him through the surgery and recovery and 10 years later he’s still going strong. Happy summer sweet boy!

Lexi, gorgeous sable & white 4-5 yr old, has been adopted and will be living in WI. This lovely lady originally came from a hoarding situation and was looking for a forever home where she could be someone’s loyal best friend and she absolutely hit the jackpot. Her new mom is just as smitten with her and we couldn’t be happier for both of them.

Our sweet Olive passed away last night.
As we sat with the awful decision we'd made with the vet to end her suffering, she breathed her last breath on her own. She saved us from that final act.
She came to us about 13 years ago from Minnesota/Wisconsin Collie Rescue. Olive came from Missouri. She was skeptical of us at first, but slowly became the matriarch of the house. She ruled over our other dog, Grace, at the time, and eventually Joy as well. She also made it clear, in her strong, quiet way, that visiting dogs were to respect her authority — Sugar, Bernie, Gilbert, Ginger, and others, especially Gracie's brother, Farley. Farley was a regular guest and knew Olive for all thirteen of those years. He had passed away just eleven days earlier, after spending his last weekend with us.
Shortly after we got her she was diagnosed with heart worm, but went through the treatments, survived with no side effects.
She was what I always called an arm's-length dog — nearby, but never a snuggler. She always seemed uncomfortable if you got too close. But she was never far away, either. I always thought that was true to her herding heritage: always watching the flock. Myra called her our roommate.
She loved sitting on the back porch, hanging her head over the edge, making sure no squirrel dared touch the ground. She would sit at the top of the hill looking out over her domain, her kingdom. The colder the day, the better — we'd have to force her inside on below-zero days, and she'd just sit out there in the snow.
At night, she'd sleep on the hardwood floor, either with her head tucked under a chair or her feet under a rug. I tried more dog beds than I can count, but the living room floor was always where she chose to be.
Olive ashes will join Patches, Izzy and Grace under the tree in the back yard
We love her and miss her terribly, My “Little Big Dog”

Adorable Milo, 10 month old tri male, has been adopted and will be living in IA. Milo was surrendered to MWCR from a busy home where the family simply didn’t have the time, space or ability to meet the needs of an adolescent collie. His wonderful foster home started him on the right path to being the Best Boy and his new mom and dad are thrilled to be able to continue his education and shower him with the love and attention he deserves!
