South of the River Parkinson's Support Group Parkinson’s disease is a neurodegenerative brain disorder that progresses slowly in most people. If you or know someone with Parkinson's, your not alone.

What this means is that individuals with PD will be living with PD for twenty years or more from the time of diagnosis. However, having PD does not mean you cannot have a good quality of life. Because there is no cure, doctors will be focused and dedicated to finding treatments that help control the symptoms of PD and enable you to manage your PD. er the age of 60 and 2 in 100 over the age of 70 have Parkinson's and 50,000-60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. Approximately 15% (and growing) of diagnosed individuals are under the age of 50.
