Freedom Life’s music ministry, Heart Cry, will be performing at this great event!
🎶🔥 PERFORMER ANNOUNCEMENT — UPDATE TO THE FAITH MOVING MOUNTAINS FESTIVAL! 🔥🎶
A prison ministry was formed right here in McDowell County, and we are pleased to announce that HEART CRY — Music of the Spirit will be performing at the First Annual Faith Moving Mountains Festival! 🙌⛰️✝️
Heart Cry will bring a powerful mix of Contemporary Christian, Southern Gospel, and Gospel Bluegrass to our stage — but their story is about so much more than music. 🎸🎤
Heart Cry’s journey began in 2010, when Danny Hampton, after more than 20 years in pastoral ministry, was called to serve as a prison chaplain at Marion Correctional Institution. While serving there, God began moving powerfully among the men on the prison worship team. Their time together became about more than music practice — it became a time of prayer, Bible study, worship, and transformation. 🙏
Out of that ministry came a vision: that one day the worship team would be able to leave the prison and minister through concerts in churches and throughout the community — and that a ministry would be created to serve people both during incarceration and after they returned home.
That vision became reality. 🙌
In 2012, the worship team received permission to begin traveling outside the prison for ministry concerts. That same year, the nonprofit ministry that became Freedom Life was incorporated, and the worship team became known as Heart Cry.
Since then, Heart Cry has remained part of the mission of Freedom Life, combining Spirit-filled music with personal stories of God’s transforming power. ❤️🔥
Today, Scott Kelley, Melissa Lister, and Danny Hampton serve as the core of the Heart Cry ministry team.
And on September 30, they are bringing that ministry right back here to McDowell County for Faith Moving Mountains! ⛰️✝️🎶
