Shay Leonia is the Communications Manager at the American Humanist Association, host of the podcast "How to Humanist", and runs AHA's Creator Program, which partners with content creators to bring humanism to new audiences. She is a musician based in Philadelphia who came to this movement the same way she hopes you did: curious, a little confused, and glad she stayed! At NaNoCon 2026 she will be hosting a workshop called: Damn, Did I Just Learn That I'm a Humanist?

This July 31st, grab your fellow apostates, and come raise some hell!

John Gleason is an ex-Christian who once believed Adam and Eve were real people, but once the doubts started pouring in like the flood waters of Noah’s Ark, he had no one to turn to. That’s when he decided to use his voice and encourage others to do the same through creating content as Godless Engineer. At NaNoCon 2026 he will be hosting a panel with Ember on How To Do Your Homework As An Influencer.

Chad Harris was raised within the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) and its Advanced Training Institute (ATI) homeschool program, a fundamentalist Christian cult. In 2023 he appeared in the mini-series Shiny Happy People to share his experience of growing up in a high-control religious environment and the harm it causes. At NaNoCon 2026 Chad will appear on a panel of men sharing their stories of healthy masculinity.

Daniel Cartier is living proof that it's possible to disagree with your neighbors and loved ones on religion and politics without burning bridges. A recording and visual artist, podcast host, recovery advocate, and gay atheist in rural Tennessee, Daniel spends his time navigating one of life's hardest challenges: loving people who occasionally make him want to scream into a pillow. Through years of recovery work and community building, he's learned that life is much better when you take care of relationships. At NaNoCon 2026 he will be hosting a workshop called “Staying Connected to Those Who Believe Differently”.
