As the month of May comes to a close, the Friends of Lonesome Historic Site (FOLHS) take this time to reflect. We do this throughout the year, too, but there is something about wrapping up a school year, honoring the recent graduates, reaching milestones to remind us how truly grateful we are.

Lonesome Historic Site exists because of its original inhabitants, William and Dicy Austin. It remained in the Austin family until William (Bill) Wyatt Austin deeded this historic gem to the town of Burns in 2014. The Lonesome Cabin remains because of generous donors that allowed its restoration in 2022-2023. We are forever grateful for those that continue to donate and volunteer to preserve this place that encourages people to come and be a part of the living history of this wondrous place.

Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude!❤️

💟Remembering the matriarch for the Lonesome Historic Site, Delilah "Dicy" Horner Austin, this Mother's Day. Dicy had 11 children, 40 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren, and 174 great great grandchildren (that we know about). Needless to say, without Dicy (and her husband William Green Austin) we wouldn't have this beloved historic gem!

The Friends of Lonesome Historic Site, want to warmly wish all the mothers, mothers-to-be, aunts and other wonderful women that are mothers-at-heart, a very Happy Mother's Day!🌹
