We are thankful for our partners California Trout and Trout Unlimited for their relentless work alongside the Pit River Tribe to protect Sáttítla. They recently shared a great piece about the long journey and the many, many reasons to protect these lands.

"Overall, there was overwhelming support at the listening session, and we saw an outpouring of local business support for the monument including fly fishing guide services and fly shops who serve the Fall River and Upper Sacramento."

"The Pit River Tribe's extensive restoration work and advocacy throughout their territory has enhanced fisheries and water resources that serve not just their people, but many Californians, by supporting recreational opportunities to providing clean water and hydroelectric power for communities downstream. The campaign to establish Sáttítla Highlands National Monument builds on their legacy of environmental stewardship benefitting various communities."

The Pit River Tribe and our partners continue to call on President Biden to honor and protect these ancestral lands as Sáttítla National Monument before the end of his term. This isn’t just about protecting land—it’s about preserving identity, heritage, and the sacred places that sustain us all.
