Dear Community Members,
We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a positive difference in our community. While we work closely with the town, we are a separate group from the town board.
We rent both the Bhive and the Community Center at what we believe are reasonable rates. However, it is important to understand that we are responsible for all utility costs. At the Bhive, we pay for heat and lighting. At the Community Center, we cover heat, air conditioning, and lighting. As everyone is aware, utility costs are increasing significantly and are not going down.
We recognize that many of the groups using these facilities are also nonprofit organizations. However, we are unable to allow the buildings to be used free of charge, especially when heat, air conditioning, and lighting are used for several hours at a time.
Our organization is made up of a small group of approximately five dedicated volunteers who work hard to keep these buildings operating. We hold a fundraiser at the end of February and host Community Day in September. Aside from rental income, these events are our primary sources of funding. These funds are used to maintain both buildings, pay utilities, and address any unexpected repairs or expenses that arise.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support as we work to keep these community spaces available and well maintained for everyone.
Sincerely,
Burnettsville Community Board
