Vermont Connector Connecting people, amplifying voices, and inspiring action to build resilient communities 👶🍼Home of the Baby Product Exchange

Vermont Connector’s mission is build strong, resilient communities through mutual aid, volunteer coordination, and civic engagement. These could be through volunteer matching, strategic partnership development, or helping individuals activate their talents and leadership skills in service to their communities. To further these objectives, Vermont Connector has developed a comprehensive community

resource list, available at vermontconnector.org. The list includes resources for: business, community organizing, emergency management and mutual aid, government and public service, health & well-being, parents and families. Check it out let us know what resources are missing!

Two days, two important milestones.

Today, we recognize Juneteenth—a day that celebrates freedom while reminding us that the work of building equitable, welcoming communities continues.

Tomorrow, we observe World Refugee Day, which honors the strength, courage, and resilience of people who have been forced to flee their home countries to escape conflict or persecution

At Vermont Connector, we often say that strong communities are built through shared connections. Days like today remind us why those connections matter.

Through partnerships with organizations across Vermont, we work to help ensure families have access to the resources they need to thrive. One partnership we're especially grateful for is U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI)-Vermont, whose team supports refugees and immigrants as they establish themselves in Vermont.

Through the Baby Product Exchange, we've been able to provide bulk donations of essential baby gear—including baby wraps and pediatric shoes—to help meet the needs of the families they serve. It's one example of what happens when organizations work together: resources reach the people who need them most. The Baby Product Exchange distributes free and gently used baby equipment through trusted community partners, helping families access essential items with dignity.

Community isn't built by any one organization alone. It's built through partnership, mutual care, and a shared belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to flourish.

The last day of school always feels like a milestone that came too fast!

That backpack that was too big in September? Fits perfectly now. The shiny new sneakers are worn out. The lunch box has survived another year (or maybe it's barely holding together 🤣).

And somehow, your kid grew again!

As summer gets underway, the ritual of sorting through clothes, gear, books, toys, and baby items that are no longer needed begins again.

Before things end up in storage, the thrift shops, or the landfill—consider sharing them with folks in the Vermont community.

One family's "we don't need this anymore" can be another family's "this is exactly what we needed."

And we'd love to help facilitate! 💚

Visit https://babyproductexchange.org/about to see the items we're currently accepting, then upload your qualifying item photos and we'll be in touch to arrange a drop off. It's THAT easy!

We're excited to say that Laila Pickett, who first came to Vermont Connector this past spring, has decided to stick with us as our summer intern!

Laila will be taking over inventory management, working on a mutual aid school curriculum, creating microfundraising campaigns, and will organize her own community collection for the end of summer.

We're so grateful for her interest, enthusiasm, and help!

Babywearing is a fantastic way to bond with your baby AND keep your hands free to do all the things you need to get done. And we have a variety of gorgeous Babylonia Slen BB fabric baby wraps for sale. At approximately 13 yards of soft, woven fabric, they're also fantastic for sewing or clothing projects. And a steal at just $40 each. If interested, please send us a message or email and arrange a time to come to our offices to purchase and pick them up.

Another successful partnership event! At the NEKCA - Northeast Kingdom Community Action Family Resource Expo on 5/23, 84 donated items now have a second life supporting new families. The Vermont Department of Health led attendees through car seat safety checks, and several other organizations were on hand to share resources and support too. Thank you NEKCA for all your hard work and another fantastic event!

Meet the amazing Kim Watkin, who along with the Franklin County Women for Democracy organized yet another collection event for the Baby Product Exchange.

38 items + 226 diapers collected by 8 volunteers at the Bright Side in St. Albans, who generously opened their space for this collection event. Thank you all for supporting Vermont families!
