Volunteer with the North End Food Pantry!
Join our welcoming community of neighbors helping neighbors in the New North End!

As we settle into our autumn routines, transitioning from summer vacation mode and sending kids back to school, the North End Food Pantry (1416 North Ave) is putting out a reminder of our ongoing volunteer opportunities. We are 100% volunteer run and count on our neighbors to help keep weekly distribution going, serving over 600 guests each month!

Every Saturday and Sunday, we have volunteer shifts from 7:45am to 11:00am. Volunteers come from all walks of life, from high school students to retirees, from as far as Milton and as nearby as Edgemoor Drive. Bright and early on their weekend mornings, volunteers walk, bike, or drive to the pantry, often with a coffee mug in hand, ready to start unloading veggies, sorting and packaging foods, and distributing it to their neighbors.

Volunteer hours can count towards student community service requirements, corporate employee volunteer programs, court-ordered community service, Medicaid community service hours, and more. Volunteering with the pantry requires no ongoing commitment. You can drop in for one shift or sign up for a recurring schedule through our online scheduling platform.

Volunteer shifts include:

Weekend Food Distribution:
*Saturdays & Sundays: 7:45am – 10:15am
Unload trucks & sort food by category. Greet & assist guests.
*Saturdays & Sundays: 8:45am – 10:30am
Assist guests during food distribution. Put away tables & clean-up afterwards.
*Saturdays & Sundays: 9:45am – 11:00am
Distribute non-perishable food to remaining guests. Restock shelves.

Drivers:
*Saturdays & Sundays: 7:30am – 8:00am
Bring your truck/SUV to transport food from the North Ave Hannaford to the pantry.

Monthly Clothing Drive:
*Last Sunday of the month: 10:30am – 1:30pm
Organize & sort donated clothing.

Thank you so much to Ward 4 voters who turned out at the polls on Tuesday and generously donated food & personal care items for the North End Food Pantry, as well as monetary donations to support our work!

We are currently spending nearly $10,000 a month to keep up with current demand for food and essential personal care items. Every Saturday and Sunday, find us at the Odd Fellows Lodge (1416 North Avenue) from 9:00am-11:00am for fresh produce, deli and bakery items, meat, milk, canned goods, diapers, toiletries, menstrual care products, and clothing for all ages and sizes.

We are a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit and couldn’t do this work without your support. Thank you!

The North End Food Pantry is seeking off-site storage space!

The North End Food Pantry, an all-volunteer run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is expanding our programs. We are seeking off-site storage space to accommodate our growing inventory of supplies.

Our needs include:
*Approximately 200 sq ft storage space
*Located in the New North End, within a 5-10 minute drive from the pantry (1416 North Ave)
*Climate-controlled (approx within a range of 50-70 degrees)
*Secure pest-free space
*Located on the first floor (since we will need to roll handcarts in and out for loading/unloading inventory)
*Free or low-cost monthly fee. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and could work with the building owner to arrange a charitable tax deduction for a reduced-rate lease or space donation.

Please contact us at [email protected] with storage space availability.

The North End Food Pantry is located at the Odd Fellows Lodge (1416 North Avenue, Burlington), open to all every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am-11:00am. We provide free food, personal care items, diapers, menstrual care products, and clothing for all ages and sizes.

Please note that we only accept clothing donations on the last Sunday of every month during our clothing & food drives! The Odd Fellows are kind enough to let us share their space, and we want to continue to make sure we’re being good stewards of the space and not leaving things around.

Our next clothing & food drive will be on this Sunday, July 26th! Donations can be dropped off between 11am and 1pm.

Thank you for your continued support! 😄💚
