A huge thank you to our friends at Lawson's Finest Liquids for hosting our second Pour the Girls! meet-up last month!

Although the weather did not cooperate with us for a Mad River swim, our crew was given a private tour of the production area, shared a glorious spread of a few seasonal bites, and of course, many Sips!

Join us for the next Pour the Girls! event on September 15th at 4pm. We will meet on the Burlington waterfront for a (beginner friendly!) yoga class followed by beers & networking over at Foam Brewers. See you then!đŸ»

Champlain Valley Hops is a 37 acre farm in Starksboro, Vermont that is aiming to increase access to local ingredients in New England. Being the largest hops farm east of Michigan means they are balancing quantity with quality. As they say, craft beer deserves craft hops! Founded in 2017 the farm has been mastering the art of hops growing for nearly a decade, meaning they know the perfect time to harvest in August and September. This year the Vermont Brewers Association and members of the brewing community had the opportunity to learn first hand what the harvest looks like and see where their hops are coming from. Thank you to everyone at Champlain Valley Hops for taking the time to share your beautiful land with us all!

đŸ» ANOTHER NEW RETAIL & CRAFT BEER BAR MEMBER! đŸ»

We’re excited to welcome to the Vermont Brewers Association as one of our newest Retail & Craft Beer Bar Members!

Our new membership level was created to bring the retailers and craft beer bars that champion Vermont beer even closer to the breweries, people, and communities that make our industry what it is. And The Local is a pretty perfect example of exactly that.

Their philosophy when it comes to beer?

“Vermont in the lefthand cooler. The rest of the world in the right.” đŸș

At The Local, they’ve taken on the very difficult job (someone has to do it!) of narrowing down all the incredible beer available here in Vermont and filling their cooler with what they believe is truly exceptional. Alongside those Vermont favorites, you’ll find thoughtfully selected beer from beyond our borders and plenty of fun bottles and cans to discover.

That same care goes into their wine selection. Every wine they carry comes from small family farms and is organically, biodynamically, or sustainably produced, with grapes picked by hand. The goal is simple: take the intimidation out of shopping for wine and beer and create a place where everyone, from the curious newcomer to the seasoned enthusiast, can find something they’ll love.

And now there are two places to find them! The Local has its shop in Middlesex, plus The Local: Wine + Beer Outpost at 5th Quarter Butcher + Provisions in Waitsfield.

Thoughtfully selected. Made by people who care about their craft. And always ready to help you discover your next favorite bottle or can.

Sounds like our kind of people. đŸ’šđŸ»

Welcome to the VBA, The Local: Wine & Beer!

The Vermont Brewers Association is excited to introduce our new Retail & Craft Beer Bar Membership, created to bring the businesses that champion Vermont craft beer even closer to the breweries, people, and communities that make our industry what it is.

The VBA’s work is rooted in four pillars: education, community, governance, and marketing. As we continue working toward our vision of Vermont as the premier state for craft beer, we’re excited to welcome Vermont retailers and craft beer bars into the association and strengthen the connections between breweries, retailers, and beer lovers across the state.

And we truly couldn’t think of a more fitting business to kick things off. ❀

Please welcome Arrowhead Lodge in Milton as our very first Retail & Craft Beer Bar Member!

This one is especially close to home for the VBA. Arrowhead Lodge co-owner Lauren worked at the VBA before opening the Lodge with her husband, Nick, in February 2020. Our Executive Director, Emma, worked part-time at the Lodge until just a few months ago. And, because apparently the VBA–Arrowhead connections run deep, our very own VBA President is Mug Club Member #1. đŸș

Nick and Lauren opened Arrowhead Lodge as a place for people to gather, engage, and connect over local craft beverages, lite fare, and unique events. Just five weeks later, the pandemic changed everything BUT with the support of their community, they made it through and built the welcoming gathering place Arrowhead is today.

Their commitment to supporting fellow Vermonters is at the heart of what makes this partnership such a natural fit. A visit to Arrowhead supports not only a small business in Milton, but Vermont brewers, vintners, cider makers, farmers, producers, and makers from across the state.

We’re incredibly excited to welcome Arrowhead Lodge into the VBA in this new way and we have a feeling they’re just the beginning. đŸ»
