If you're a veteran and a baseball fan, mark July 2 on your 2022 calendar. AMVETS Post 29 is again sponsoring Military Appreciation Night at Community Field in Burlington. All veterans will be admitted free to the Burlington Bees game against the Clinton LumberKings. We hope to see you there.

🎉🎉 Another win for David! 🎉🎉

He was recently adopted by the AMVETS of Burlington, IA for our Walk to End ALZ this October! Being a vet of the Navy himself there wasn't any hesitation for the AMVETS to adopt him 💜💜💜

This time the AMVETS members boxed up his favorite goodies and mailed him this care package! Another small gesture that goes a long way...people helping people, vets helping vets!

We now have a large window sign at the VFW, marking our presence. Thanks go to VFW Commander Phil Hanson. It was his idea for the window sign to make Des Moines County AMVETS Post 29 more visible. Our annual garage sale is Friday and Saturday (April 19-20) at the Burlington Gym, 129 So. 4th St., in Burlington. We'll be open 9-4 on Friday and 9-2 Saturday. We've got clothes preemie to adult, tools, toys, centerpieces, a bicycle, books and much more. Come see us.

VFW Post 10102 in Burlington is offering pulled pork sandwiches and baked beans Monday, Nov. 12, beginning at 11:30 a.m. It's free to veterans and $5 for everyone else. The AMVETS Auxiliary will be providing a cake. The POW/MIA ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Come join us.

Happy Veterans Day to all. It's Sunday, but will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 12. We'll be re-dedicating our POW/MIA table at VFW Post 10102, 215 Washington, Burlington, at 2 p.m. Monday. It's a short, but touching ceremony to honor those who can't be with us.

The Navy and Air Force concrete skulls pictured will be part of the silent auction Saturday, Aug. 26,at the Ninth Annual AMVETS Post 29 picnic. We will also have Army and Marine skulls in the silent auction. They come from Nunnikhoven's in Mediapolis. The weather forecast looks good for Saturday, so it should be another great picnic. We'll start serving lunch at about noon at the 40&8 Park, then stick around for the silent and live auctions, shotgun raffle, horseshoe tournament, beverages and camaraderie. All Iowa AMVETS and the members of VFW Post 10102 are invited. See you Saturday.

The 9th Annual AMVETS Post 29 Member Appreciation Picnic is only 5 days away (Saturday, Aug. 26) and pictured are 5 stones we'll have up for auction. There's one each for Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, and a another which says "Support our Veterans." Other auction items include an eagle painted on a window pane, 2 stone trucks pained OD green, a necklace, a round of golf for 4 with carts at Spirit Hollow Golf Course, two wooden Adirondack chairs, and more. There will also be a silent auction for other items and raffles for a Re*****on Model 870 shotgun and a triple slow cooker. All Iowa AMVETS and members of VFW Post 10102 are invited. We'll start serving lunch at about noon. The post provides the pork loin sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, soft drinks and beer. Our members bring side dishes. See you at the 40&8 Park Saturday.
