Information for viewing, funeral services, and obituary for Chief Peck Adams. May the Chief's Legacy of Service and Leadership be remembered.

Michael “Peck” Lawrence Adams’ final alarm sounded on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at the age of 70, peacefully at his home. Through it all, Peck was a lifelong Burlington City resident who was committed to his community.

Michael was the son of the late Burlington City Fire Chief Morris “Peck” Adams Sr. and the late Dorothy (Dot) Warner Adams. He was also predeceased by his sisters Joan Adams of Burlington, NJ, Susan (Adams) Smith of Burlington Township, NJ, and Nancy Adams of Willoughby, OH. He is survived by his siblings Thomas Adams (Nettie) of Rosemount, MN, Kenneth Adams (Peggy-deceased) of Burlington, NJ. He is survived by his children Michelle Adams-Long (Jonathan), Valerie Adams, Bridgette Niedrist (Timothy), and Zachary Adams (Nicole); his grandchildren, Natalia (Dylan), Joseph, ZuZu, Francesca and Olivia.

His early career included positions at Colorado Fuel and Iron in Roebling, U.S. Pipe Foundry in Burlington, and Wall Rope in Beverly. He found his home at Burlington County Special Services School District, where he would go on to retire after 30+ years of service. He even volunteered numerous years as Santa Claus’ double at school and firehouse events.

Peck followed in his father’s footsteps serving the Burlington City Volunteer Fire Department for 56 years, starting in 1969 at the Neptune Hose Company as a Junior Firefighter for two years. He continued to serve at the Mitchell Fire Company for an additional 54 years. Peck climbed through the department ranks and became Chief of the Burlington City Fire Department in 2000. He then became President of the Mitchell Fire Company for countless years. He continued supporting the department as the Fire Data Processor.

Peck held many organization titles such as Trustee and Delegate of the Relief Association, Delegate and Lifetime Member of New Jersey State Firemen’s Association, and a member of the Burlington County Fire Chief’s Association.

Peck was a mentor to fellow firefighters and he considered the firehouse brothers and sisters as family. He was always a loving father, Pop-Pop, and a dedicated friend to many.

Dad, we will continue to cheer on your New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers. If an amazing play should happen, we’ll know you had something to do with it. Sit back and relax, you’ve taught us all well. We’ve got it from here.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family through www.pagefuneralhome.com
