On June 13th, join us for a talk and walk in Stowe, Vermont. Keith Jennings, our Director of Research, will be speaking on “A Small Vermont Farm and the History of Snow Monitoring” at the Barnes Camp in Stowe, VT.

Afterwards, Beverley Wemple will lead attendees on a walk to Ranch Brook through the Stowe XC trails. We will get a close look at snow monitoring infrastructure, learning all about the 25 years of alpine water research on Mount Mansfield!

The University of Vermont officially opened the first weather station in the Vermont Mesonet—a planned statewide network of automated weather stations— that will monitor and report real-time data to improve extreme weather preparedness, agricultural planning, and critical research across the Green Mountain State.

Led by the Water Resources Institute at UVM, the Vermont Mesonet aims to reduce significant gaps in the state’s meteorological, river forecasting, and flood warning
