Coffey County Cancer Support Group met on May 28th at the Burlington Library with 18 members in attendance.

Sherri O’Keefe reported 16 individuals were helped in May.

Sherri gave an update on donations and memorials received in May. These will be listed in our 2nd quarter Facebook thank you.

Martha Newkirk gave an update on the breakfast our group will serve during Strawnfest on Saturday, June 6th from 7:00 – 10:30 am. We will be at the New Strawn Community Building and will serve biscuits and gravy, pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk and juice for a freewill donation. We are needing to borrow 2 Blackstone grills. If you have one we could use, please contact Martha at (620)203-9010. Our “In Memory of” and “In Honor of” signs will be on display. We will set up on Friday afternoon. Contact Martha if you would like to help either Friday or Saturday.

Carla Hoch gave an update on the upcoming 12th Annual Golf Tournament to be held August 14th and 15th at Rock Creek Country Club. The first golf committee meeting will be held Monday, June 1st at the Burlington Library. Contact Carla at (620)364-6660 if you would like to help with the event or to sign up a team.

Everyone participated in sharing time and updates were given on members not present.

Our next meeting will be Thursday, June 25th, at 7:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Coffey County Cancer Support Group will meet on Thursday, May 28th at 7:00 pm in the conference room of the Burlington Library. We will be finalizing plans for the Strawnfest breakfast. Everyone is welcome to attend. Hope to see you Thursday.

Coffey County Cancer Support Group met on February 26th at the Burlington Library with 15 members in attendance.

Wayde Thomsen, District 5 County Commissioner, was our guest speaker and spoke about the history of the County Commission. He answered a myriad of questions from those attending, mostly concerning the raise in taxes.

Sherri O’Keefe reported 13 individuals were helped in February.

Sherri gave an update on donations and memorials received in February. These will be listed in our 1st quarter Facebook thank you.

We have held a breakfast at the Strawnfest for the past couple of years. It was voted to host a breakfast this year for Strawnfest on June 6. Martha will head up the committee so anyone wanting to help should contact her.

The Burlington Branch library will be closing at 6 p.m. starting March 1. For the March meeting, those attending should enter through the East door.
