These Vermont employers are hiring high school graduates as apprentices, paying $18-$26 per hour, providing on-the-job-training, and partnering with Vermont Technical College’s Office of Continuing Education & Workforce Development to deliver engineering technology courses at the plant, resulting in 20 to 40 college credits towards a degree (one-third to two-thirds of the credits needed for an Associate in Engineering degree). Tuition-free for the student. Once they finish the apprentice program, most will use the companies’ tuition reimbursement benefits to complete the associate degree and several have even completed the Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology.
