The Brent Slocum Foundation was founded in the memory of our friend, Brent Slocum, who died at 34 raceway in 2005. To understand the purpose of our foundation, one must understand the man we were founded to honor. Brent was a fierce Late Model competitor who competed in the IMCA series and regularly at 34 raceway in Burlington, Iowa and Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois. In his eleven year career
, he had many feature wins, track championships and professional accolades. Brent was a fan favorite not just because of the success he enjoyed, but also because of the spirit he brought to the track each week. The enthusiasm and zest he brought with him to the track was seen in his contagious smile. The only thing Brent loved more than racing, was spending time with his family and friends. He left behind a wife and three month old daughter, Isabelle Slocum. The Brent Slocum Foundation's primary event is the annual Slocum 50, which is hosted at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa on in April. The event promises to be packed with fast cars and fierce competitors, who vie for a coveted purse and "Slocum 50" trophy. What makes this event even more exciting than a regular Late model feature, is the large purse that draws in competitors from across the Midwest. The Brent Slocum Foundation and 34 Raceway will hold a $10,555 to win the Late Model Feature and $500 to start event this season. The event is a great opportunity for sponsors to have their name seen by thousands of race fans, not only from southeast Iowa, but from across the nation. In an effort to make sponsoring the Slocum 50 and donating to the Brent Slocum Foundation even easier, the Brent Slocum Foundation filed for incorporation as a 501(c)(3) corporation this year. More information about our corporate status and the increased benefits to friends of the foundation will follow. Thank you for taking the time to read about our friend and learn about what the Brent Slocum Foundation has to offer you. If you are interested in sponsoring the event, donating to the scholarship fund, buying merchandise or just attending a fast-flying Late Model event, please contact us. Our foundation treats all people who contact us just as Brent did, as a friend.
