Have you heard about Tuesday Tours for Teachers? ๐
Through partnership between the Alamance Chamber and Alamance-Burlington Schools, this program was created to offer middle and high school Career and Technical Education teachers the opportunity to visit businesses and industries in the Alamance County area to learn more about hard and soft skills needed by today's workforce.
Last Tuesday, our group of teachers met at Peacehaven Farm, located in Whitsett. Peacehaven was founded in 2007 by the Elliot and Cochran families, who were raising children with Intellectual/Developmental disabilities. The two families envisioned a place that would curate belonging by cultivating community for people of all abilities. The full vision for Peacehaven's 89 acres will be realized over the next few years beginning with a multipurpose community center followed by integrated, residential housing, an arts center, outdoor recreation spaces, a multidisciplinary health care clinic for the I/DD population, and expanded farming operations.
Thank you, Peacehaven Farm, for welcoming us and sharing your mission with our teachers. Tuesday Tours for Teachers continues to build bridges between education, industry, and community - helping teachers inspire the next generation with real-world insight. ๐ซ
