URGENT! FOUND CAT!

This sweet cat was found by a Good Samaritan who contacted us for help. He had been running up to the residents of a local neighborhood, wanting to come inside. We headed out to meet them, scanned him and were absolutely elated to discover that he was microchipped AND that his microchip was actually registered!

The microchip company provided us with his owner's contact information and shared that he had been reported as missing this past March after escaping the safety of his indoor home which was roughly a mile away from where he was found!

Excited to let his worried owner know he was safe and sound, we reached out to them immediately to share the wonderful news. His owner had made a point to post him on local "lost and found" pet pages across FB as well, begging for help in locating her baby and we couldn't wait to reunite them!

Sadly, that excitement was quickly smothered when we finally heard back from the owner several hours later and discovered that she had gotten another cat and no longer wanted Brian back.

Her intention is to pick him up from us tomorrow and drop him off at the shelter (which we explained will not be feasible since the shelter will be closed and would require a surrender appointment to be scheduled first). She has made it clear that she cannot keep him indoors anywhere. Truthfully, we're worried that she may not actually pick him up as planned or, worse, that she may put him back outside.

We spoke with animal control officers and have explained the circumstances. They are unable to help over the weekend so Brian is currently sitting in a crate inside of our tiny bathroom at the office. Which, frankly, sucks.

Brian is a 2 year old, neutered male who seems very sweet and social. He is litter box trained and appears healthy. Brian is WONDERFUL with children and people. We don't know how he may be with other cats and, while he does appear to have lived with dogs at one point, we're not sure if was comfortable around them.

Are you looking to adopt a young adult cat into your family or even foster one? Please let us know if you may be interested in Brian! We'd love to place him with someone whom will give him the love he deserves.

The ONLY way to handle the overpopulation issue and to ensure viruses and illnesses are controlled/eliminated is to spay and neuter all cats (and dogs). It's imperative that actual, low cost/affordable programs that are easy to use are put in place and offered to the community in every county.

COURTESY POST -
DOG NEEDS A HOME!

Bonnie is in need of a new home as soon as possible. Her parents recently had a human baby and now feel that Bonnie is too much for them to handle. She is a 5 year old female who enjoys taking long walks or extended playtimes in the yard. She is very affectionate, very smart and a good listener. She is very good with cats and other dogs but has exhibited some resource guarding so a separate feeding area for her will be a must.

If you're interested in giving Bonnie a true forever home, please email us at [email protected] so that we may put you in touch with the owners.

Oh! Hi, there, Silk!

This silly boy loves to playfully look down on visitors from the top of his tower as he contemplates which toy he'd like for them to entertain him with next!

Friends,

Beginning today and over the next few days, our temps will be downright dangerous for humans AND pets!!!

PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE YOUR PETS UNATTENDED IN CARS AT ANY TIME - NOT FOR A MINUTE WHILE YOU RUN INTO THE STORE FOR ONE THING, NOT EVEN FOR A SECOND!

Make sure ALL outdoor pets/animals have constant access to shade and cool shelter as well as fresh, clean water!

SEE SOMETHING? SAY SOMETHING!

If you come across a neglected animal or an animal left in a vehicle without the a/c on, please call your local Police or Animal Control departments immediately for help! Here are local numbers for reference: https://www.burlingtonnc.gov/1538/Animal-Field-Services

And please consider leaving a large bowl of water in a shaded area of your yard/property for wildlife - they overheat too!

Friends,

Satin, Silk and Velvet are siblings that have been in our foster program and looking for their forever homes for well over a year. They're super sweet cats that are quite loving once comfortable but they're very timid to start and, therefore, they haven't "presented well" at any adoption event they've attended. People have passed them over without giving them a chance...

They're currently spending some time at our office in order to interact with more people regularly and gain some confidence! A week in and they've done beautifully so far!

If you love cats, want to spend time with them and perhaps even apply to adopt one, please visit our office to sit with these three beautiful felines and say hello!

They'll be available to play with today today and Thursday from 12 to 3!

P.S. For now, adults only, please.

Velvet may not chase wand toys as enthusiastically as his brother, Silk, or his sister, Satin, but once he finds his person, he sure does turn into a lovebug! Anyone out there in search of a fluffy panther to call their own?
