A great piece on the Dallas-Fort Worth evening news about our latest Haitian valve patients - they risked their safety, overcame gang roadblocks, and traveled by land over the mountains of Haiti to fly out from the north and access surgery. Our wonderful partners at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Plano have transformed the lives of more than 40 of our patients over the past eight years!

Baylor Scott & White Hospital is partnering with a charity organization to get Haitians the life-saving surgeries they need.

Our patient-led peer support group (Famille Haiti Cardiaque) is stronger and more active than ever! During their latest retreat last weekend, they welcomed new post-op members, encouraged one another, and celebrated their accomplishments together. We're inspired by their energy and leadership!

This is our friend Podolsky traveling via UN helicopter back to his rural home in Haiti after life-saving heart surgery in Spain! It all happened thanks to amazing collaboration between and dozens of caring doctors and nurses who treated him like a true VIP from beginning to end. Samantha is one of HCA's first-ever patients, who had an open-heart surgery over ten years ago. This week, she graduated from medical school in Dominican Republic and is now a doctor! Next, she will train to become a pediatric cardiologist, so that she can help Haitian children who are in the same situation that she once was.

Last Friday, 26 of our patients who are living with artificial heart valves came together to share their stories, support one another - and start their own patient-run organization to support and advocate for other Haitians with rheumatic heart disease! We're inspired by their leadership, energy, and vision for the future.
