After careful deliberation, we have decided it's best to cancel tonight's event, Women, Sport and Social Change.

We'll be finding a new date for this event - it's a great panel and a great topic. Stay tuned.

Apologies for the late notice - Vermont weather is always a lot of fun!

Moments in Sports for Women:
Ada Hegerberg, recognized as the world's best female soccer player last year on receiving the prestigious Ballon d'Or award, opted not to playin the Women’s World Cup in 2019. In addition, Hegerberg quit the Norwegian national team in 2017 to protest a lack of support for women’s soccer. Join us February 6th, 6 to 8 p.m. for our panel - "Women, Sport and Social change". Moments in Sports for Women:
Pay inequality between men and women in professional basketball is well documented and extreme. For men, the *minimum* starting salary is 8 times that of women. There's no sign that this is about change anytime soon. Join us February 6th, 6 to 8 p.m. for our panel - "Women, Sport and Social change". Limited seating - register today: bit.ly/womensportschange

Moments in Sports for Women:
Female big-wave surfers have spent YEARS trying to gain parity in a sport that is exceedingly dangerous. Only in September, 2019, did the Word Surf Association finally begin to award EQUAL prize money to both women and men surfers. Moments in Sports for Women:
In March 2017, the women’s national hockey team planned to boycott the coming world championship unless U.S.A. Hockey increased women’s wages. Two weeks later, a four-year deal led to female players getting $2,000 training stipend & larger bonuses for medals AND the same travel and insurance provisions as the men’s team, along with a pool of prize money, split each year.

Moments in Sports for Women:
Venus Williams was only the fourth woman to win Wimbledon at least four times. But she also changed women's tennis forever in 2007 when she pressured Wimbledon to award women’s tennis players prize money equal to that of men’s. Moments in Sports for Women:
Title IX, legislation passed in 1972, provided American women equal educational opportunities. Actions of the women’s rowing program at Yale University gave it a very loud voice when, after enduring poor equipment and difficult conditions, the entire team stripped bare in front of their coach to make a clear statement. The “Declaration of Accountability” drew attention to the issue and led to huge changes.

Moments in sports for Women:
Billie Jean King was an early sports superstar. In September 1973, King trounced the admittedly male chauvinist pig, Bobby Riggs in a widely televised tennis match.
