Meet Firefighter/EMT Sean Petersmark 🚒
Sean’s journey into the fire service began with a single class and grew through years of hands-on experience, volunteering, and learning wherever he could. From private ambulance work to teaching wilderness medicine, he explored every angle before stepping fully into the profession — and Burlington Fire became the place where it all came together in 2025.

Originally from outside Detroit and now living in Mount Vernon 🏔️, Sean is inspired by his parents’ example of community, family, and finding joy in everyday life. He brings that same mindset to every shift, especially when responding to someone on their worst day. ❤️

Outside of work, Sean is an avid cyclist 🚴‍♂️, hiker 🥾, and bird watcher 🐦 — and fun fact, he once biked across the entire United States helping build affordable housing along the way. His coworkers might describe him as kind, energetic, and always curious, and he lives by a simple standard: leave it better than you found it. ✨

🚒 Guess what??
🎉👨🏼‍🚒1815 is back to being our first out fire suppression apparatus!! Just in time for A shift to train on rescue operations at one of the many apartment complexes under construction in Burlington!

Rapid growth of our city means we are training even more to ensure we are ready for anything. Tag a medic who is ready to become part of our team. 💪🏼
