We have early childhood classrooms in three counties, a Home Visiting Program, a Pregnancy Support Program, and a locally designed Family Connections Program in Burlington.

Did you know?

• All services are completely free for eligible families and include extensive family support services.
• Head Start is a nationwide program that began in 1965 - over 60 years ago!
• There are *seven* Head Start programs right here in Vermont. Check out https://vermontheadstart.org/ to learn more!

What makes Head Start work?

It’s the teachers who know how each child learns best. The family service staff who connect parents with resources and opportunities. The bus drivers, cooks, health professionals, program leaders, and countless others who make sure children and families have what they need to thrive.

Head Start works because of the people who bring its comprehensive approach to life every day.

This Head Start Awareness Month, we’re recognizing the extraordinary Head Start workforce serving children, families, and communities across the country.

Champlain Valley Head Start was at the National Head Start Association Fall Leadership Institute last week in Washington D.C.!

Along with over 600 other representatives from Head Start programs all across the country (including Bennington County Head Start-Early Head Start, also from Vermont), they met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for all things Head Start.

Thank you to everyone who came together to stress the importance of a sustained investment in these valuable programs and the impact they have on children and families!
