Intervale Trails

Intervale Trails Page and trails managed by the Intervale Center. Check here for updates on winter trail conditions! The Intervale Center strengthens community food systems.

Come down to the Intervale this winter and enjoy over 3 miles of groomed cross country ski trails! The trail, managed by the Intervale Center, winds through Intervale farm fields and along the scenic Winooski River. We are transforming the food system into one that is healthy and sustainable. Our home is 350 acres of floodplain in the heart of Burlington, Vermont, dedicated to agriculture, recreation and conservation.

The Intervale is closed to the public until further notice. Please help us by staying out of this area even as flood waters go down, as we need space to assess and document damage alongside farmers. We will announce when the area is back open and when we are ready for volunteers!

THANK YOU for continuing to show your support (from a distance) by sharing our posts about supporting farms and donating to farmer recovery funds.

Hello snow! 👋❄️

Cross country ski trails have been mowed and are well-marked so as always, you are welcome to come down and ski!

Unfortunately TRAILS WILL NOT BE GROOMED because our snowmobile is having a last-minute mechanical issue and we are waiting for a replacement part.

Thanks for your patience as we work to get it fixed ASAP!

Join Audubon Vermont, , , and the for our December Pride Hike!

This month we will meet up at Burlington's Intervale on SUNDAY 12/4 from 1-3pm. Please register to let us know you are coming. https://vt.audubon.org/events/pride-hikes-burlingtons-intervale-0 or Link in Bio.

LGBTQIA++ hikers are gathering to explore the trails of Burlington's Intervale. This unique land is located within the city limits of Burlington, Vermont. Our hike will be an easy, flat meandering jaunt that will loop along the banks of the Winooski River, through the farm fields of the Intervale, and in and out of the unique floodplain forest. We'll plan an easy, accessible hike. We will have plenty of options for the length, direction, and difficulty of our adventure. After our hike we'll warm up with hot beverages in the Intervale Community Barn.

All ages, allies, and families welcome! Youth under 18 years should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Pride Hikes are a collaboration between Audubon Vermont, the Pride Center of Vermont, and Outright Vermont. Pride Hikes have been happening every month since June of 2018 and go beyond being "welcoming to everyone" to creating a safe, affirming space for LGBTQIA++ community members.

Please bring anything else you will need to feel comfortable outdoors for a little over an hour or two, such as sturdy walking shoes and warm winter bundles.
