From afar Greenlove Peeps celebrated Earth Day and supported Aquidneck Island Earth week’s sentiment planting new plants for a complete landscape renovation project around Colonial Lake. The new plants were aligned with the local environment and selected based on the community preferences and needs. So much activity takes place around the Lake: running, yoga, walks, Mom & Dads strolling their young one, and electric bikes for rent.

On a personal level, Katherine, in honor of Earth Day and in memory of Kendra, adopted an bird box to share with her grandchildren and participate in the bird box program. They look forward to working and learning together.

The Narragansett Boat Club, located in Providence, RI, is the oldest in the country, with 186 years of history. The club installed a donated water bottle filling station earlier this year to enhance its environmental efforts. Serving an average of 100 members and participants daily, the club enforced a no-plastic policy, but plastic bottles continued to pose a challenge. The new hydration station is a step forward in reducing plastic waste and supporting the club's river cleanup initiatives, helping preserve the river for future generations while promoting sustainability. 🌍💦

North Scituate Public Library received a donation for a water bottle filling station earlier this year to address the need for clean, accessible water for patrons and staff. 💧 The library had to take its bubbler out of service in 2019, leaving patrons with limited options to fill water bottles. The Library’s eco-efforts made it deserving of this donation. These efforts include upcycling and repurposing materials, the creation of a pollinator garden, a summer reading program based on a Read, Renew, and Repeat theme, and leading by example (using reusable water bottles, food containers, flatware, and coffee mugs). In summary, it centers all its programs and commitments around repurposing, recycling, and environmental conservation. Hooray! 💚

New Water Bottle Filling Station Installed!

The Greenlove Foundation was established in memory of Kendra L. Bowers, a passionate environmentalist whose goals were the “preservation and protection of our land and its resources”. Kendra lived by the “recycle, reduce, re-use" mantra and her vision was to encourage others to admire and enjoy the natural beauty of the Earth and to teach the importance of protecting and saving our land.

The Greenlove Foundation was founded to continue Kendra’s legacy, to fulfill her life dream of protecting and taking care of the Earth, to make a difference, and contribute to a healthier Earth through the donations of water bottle filling stations to schools and recreational areas.

The North Scituate Public Library wants to thank The Greenlove Foundation for their generous grant of a water bottle filling station and their commitment to a sustainable future in honor of Kendra L. Bowers.
