Today there was a mass action at the ICE surveillance center in Williston. Our clergy are amazing!

There was a full funeral procession to mourn the lives of the 98 people whom we know of that have died either in ICE/CBP custody or a a result of their actions -- from as young as 3 years old to 85. We followed the funeral procession; we sang songs of resistance and hope; we prayed for the families, for those just doing their jobs, for our communities, for those worth the power to make decisions to change course, for us; we mourned and we left.

The hand-made pine coffin was left behind at the site for remeberance. The manager from the property dissembled it within minutes of the last mourner leaving with a crow bar and hauled it away -- we will not be dismissed so easily.

Being a public witness in this moment is crucial. If enough of us step up, we can push them back in a meaningful way.

It’s never hopeless. Keep showing up. Keep pushing back!

There was a full funeral procession, complete with a coffin and hearse. The coffin was left behind at the site in remeberance of the 98 lives lost in the past 2 years because of the inhumane DHS policies. The manager from the property dissembled it with a crow bar and hauled it away within minutes of the last vehicle leaving.

But they can't clean us up that easily -- we will bear moral witness for as long as is necessary.

We are not ones without hope. Keep showing up. Keep pushing back!

**Call Attorney General Charity Clark today. Show up for the Williston 13 tomorrow.**

Thirteen people were arrested in July while protesting at the Williston building that houses an ICE office. VIA believes that people who engage in nonviolent protest should not face criminal prosecution for speaking out against immigration enforcement that harms our communities.

**We call on Attorney General Charity Clark to drop the charges against the Williston 13.** Call her office today at **802-828-3171** and ask her to do so.

Community members are also gathering in support outside the **Chittenden Criminal Division, 32 Cherry Street, Burlington, at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 24**. Please keep courthouse entrances clear.

Our call is rooted in VIA’s commitment to human dignity and the right to protest.

Several clergy members were arrested during a protest at the Department of Homeland Security building in Williston Friday morning.
