the big day is ALMOST here! the Vermont City Marathon & Relay is happening this sunday 5/24 and we couldn't be any more excited here in burlington 🏃🏅⁠

a tradition that goes back to 1989, when a small group of local runners came together, believing that burlington could support a large new england marathon event in the spring. that year, around 500 people participated in the event.⁠
⁠
fun fact, it was the first marathon relay held in conjunction with a marathon in the whole country! ⁠
⁠
fast-forward to 2026, the Vermont City Marathon & Relay hosts thousands from near and far, being one of the largest marathons in the northeast (and country!) in the past two decades.⁠

NEW BUSINESS 🚨‼️ burlington’s newest jamaican spot is HERE! thingzfromyaadvt 🇯🇲

what started with cooking at home and a catering business grew into one of burlington area’s caribbean classics 🌴😋 thingzfromyaadvt is now part of downtown burlington in a big, well-known spot on cherry st! we sat down with t’yana cheney (general manager) so she could tell us all about it 🤩

we HIGHLY recommend trying the jerk chicken - smoky, tasty, and slightly sweet! we had it with greens and rice & beans 🍽️ we also had ting, a jamaican grapefruit soda that had the perfect balance between tart and sweet 🥤

curious about the drinks? other than ting, you’ll find jamaican ginger beer, sorrel (hibiscus drink with a ginger kick) made in house, and a variety of craft cocktails 🍹
