As winter comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to look back on another great year of Youth Programs!
Throughout the season, CTA staff packed up skis, boots, and gear and traveled across Vermont to bring cross-country skiing directly to students at their schools.
For many students, our School Programs are their very first chance to try skiing. This year, we provided in-person instruction at thirteen schools and supplied gear to ten others to use with PE and classroom teachers. We partner with districts that otherwise would not have the resources or access to the sport.
By turning school grounds into ski trails, it's possible for more students to experience skiing close to home.
We also work with multiple grade levels, from 3rd grade all the way to high school, so students can build their skills year after year. They get to ski with friends and classmates while discovering that winter recreation can be part of their regular school day.
Our flagship Ski Cubs Program provided gear and transportation for over 80 students on Saturday mornings at Catamount Outdoor Family Center. Watching their growth from the first session to the last is always one of the highlights of this program.
“It was amazing to see the progress made over 5 sessions! So sweet to believe we may have had a part in promoting a lifelong love of the sport.” - Deb Weizenegger, 2026 Ski Cubs Volunteer
A huge thank you to the volunteers, teachers, and school partners who help make these programs possible and show so many young Vermonters the joy of skiing each winter!
