Who Is in This Room? Meet the Class of 2027

A city clerk. A public works director. A Michelin-starred restaurateur. A special education teacher. A cemetery sales director. A retired Navy special warfare combat crewman.

They are among the 84 leaders in the Leadership CORPS and Emerging Leaders Class of 2027.

During their two-day Opening Session, participants explored their leadership purpose, strengthened their civic knowledge, and began building relationships with people they might never otherwise have met.

Over the next ten months, they will continue learning, connecting, and discovering what they can build together.

Nonprofit and public agency leaders: Could skilled, pro bono support help your organization advance an important challenge or opportunity?

Through Leadership Council SMC’s Community Acceleration Projects, selected San Mateo County organizations are paired with a team of leaders who bring fresh perspectives, strategic thinking, and focused capacity.

A CAP Team can help move an essential project forward, develop a new service or offering, research a topic or best practice, or strengthen an existing program or organizational practice.

Applications are due this Friday, September 25.

Leadership Council San Mateo County has partnered with Edgility Search as we seek our first Executive Director.

Founded in 2020, Leadership Council San Mateo County (SMC) strengthens leaders and fosters public-private sector relationships to spark innovation, civic engagement, and positive impact across the region. In just a few years, Leadership Council SMC has grown from a start-up nonprofit into a respected countywide civic leadership organization with strong program demand, a growing alumni network, and deep cross-sector relationships — all grounded in a belief that strong, connected communities are built through shared purpose and intentional leadership.

The Executive Director will lead our organization through an exciting transition from founder-led leadership to a professionally led model — providing strategic, financial, relational, and cultural leadership as the organization enters its next phase of growth. This is a rare opportunity for a trusted convener, experienced fundraiser, and disciplined organizational leader to shape the future of one of San Mateo County's most dynamic civic organizations.

🎓 Congratulations, Class of 2026! 🎓

What began as a room full of strangers became a network of trusted colleagues, collaborators, and friends committed to making San Mateo County stronger.

On June 5, Leadership Council SMC celebrated the Leadership CORPS and Emerging Leaders Class of 2026 as they completed ten months of learning, challenge, collaboration, reflection, and growth.

Nearly 200 graduates, family members, friends, alumni, elected officials, coaches, and community leaders gathered to celebrate this important milestone and welcome the newest members of our alumni community.

Congratulations to the Leadership CORPS and Emerging Leaders Class of 2026! We can't wait to see the impact you'll continue to make in your organizations, communities, and across San Mateo County.
