We have been at the retreat now for two days. We were going to give it a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ review but something has happened that has lowered our rating to 3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️’s. This resort has an all day buffet. There are lots of bowls but limited choices and no chicken or so we thought. Today we saw a big bowl of chicken in the fridge and not just any chicken. It was rotisserie chicken. We put on our sad faces but mom said it was only for Amelia and not for us and we can’t have any. She said Savanna Wyse told her we can’t have any and that it’s for Amelia only because she’s a picky eater. So let the hunger strike begin! Apparently this is a BYOC (Bring Your Own Chicken) resort. We are hoping we have better options for our next get away like maybe a real buffet with actual meat. We might even settle for cheese. Mom is probably going to have to call SONIC Drive-In tomorrow so we don’t starve! It’s like being on a cruise with no water! Do better Savanna Wyse…😡

Stella was the winning name although we loved all of the names that were suggested. She came from a small, dark home where the dogs were never allowed outside. Her first venture into the yard was a success. Sadly, on my way to get her the rescue vehicle broke down and had to be towed. Thankfully after refusing to start while I was stranded in the middle lane of a very busy road I got the car to start briefly so I could pull into a Walmart parking lot to await a tow truck. This is after I stopped and prayed for help moving to a safer spot. All three cars are now officially back in the shop. Some days I feel like just giving up. We are $700 away from clearing the Burleson bill for this week. Donations are especially appreciated after today. I am hot, tired and frustrated. Thankfully tomorrow is another day and so thankful the Lord helped me get the car started and off the busy street!

It’s $5 Friday so of course we have to help someone (after we pay off our Burleson ER bill for Tutu). This sweet girl was found in terrible conditions with several other dogs. They are all up for adoption but she has two bad eyes and two bad back legs so she needed a rescue. This is not the type of dog that most rescues get excited about but we are! As you know we sadly lost several dogs this week and had two others transfer to partner rescues so we have room. Any name suggestions are appreciated!

Ut oh! Mommy used one of Savanna Wyse nice bowls for my food (because only the best for me) and I accidentally broke it. I’m scared! Savanna Wyse is so jealous of me because I am mommy’s favorite that she might ban me from the resort because of this. Mom said we will go buy another one and it will be better than the first one. I hope! Everyone pray we can find a better one! My Sonic burger sure tasted good in that special bowl!

Hey! It’s Jack and they is my favorite holiday. It’s $5 Friday and mommy says that it is the reason I got to come here. See my dad got very old and sick. His mind was troubled by a disease called Alzheimers. He no longer recognized me and was afraid of me so I had to relocate. My dads daughter had a hard time finding a place for me because I am old but my new mom thinks the oldest dogs are the cutest and the sweetest. So I moved here where I basically acquired a staff. Everyone waits on me, makes sure I am comfortable, takes me on rides in the pink chariot, gave me a burger for the first time. It’s been great! I think I am their favorite! Now I am at this luxury resort for the weekend with mom. I love Savanna Wyse resort. The bed is big, the outdoor area is huge and there are new friends here. And it all happened for me because mom knew she could take care of me because of $5 Friday!! My great life is all thanks to you!❤️🐶💕😘

I do a lot of things behind the scenes to help dogs and their people. I don’t often talk about it but I am going to start because it might inspire someone to help also. This is Pineapple. He is two years old, unaltered and unvaccinated (also ungroomed). His family was being evicted and looking for safe places for their pets. This guy was too young for us but thankfully a great rescue TzuZooRescue agreed to take him. I drove quite a ways to get him and then drove a long way to get to their vet where he was getting the royal treatment! Along the way I fell in love with him. He is so cute in person and has the most adorable personality. If you are looking for a friend he would be a great one!! Contact TzuZooRescue if interested in the sweetest Pineapple!

I have not experienced grief this deep since Bessie died. I don’t know why. These were not my dogs and they didn’t ever warm up to me or to anyone for that matter although I think they secretly liked Savanna Wyse. I think it’s because I know their story. I know how their mom had no one but them (and great neighbors), how they were the three Musketeers, how her daughters who no one knew existed showed up to rummage through her things and dispose of her pets. I know that these two dogs who were so beloved almost ended up dumped and I know how they never recovered from losing her. They were so loyal even to her memory. Animals love deeply and they grieve deeply. Many people do not notice that but I do. I’m not sure if that is a blessing or a curse. I know it makes me different and some people think I am weird. Maybe I am. Yesterday in the midst of my deep grief I overheard a person I know talking about me and it was obvious how she feels about my heart for senior dogs and it was very surprising. People are often unkind to anyone who is different. Animals are not. They look right through you directly into your heart and they know if they have found a safe place or not. This is why I will always chose them. A special thanks to all of you who understand and encourage me. I appreciate your love and kindness so much especially today. ❤️

Mick and Dot came to live with Savanna six years ago. They had belonged to an old woman and when she could no longer care for them her daughters wanted them gone. Luckily the neighbors interceded and they ended up in Savanna’s care. They were sweet but very odd dogs. They were terrified of the outdoors, didn’t like the other dogs, tolerated Savanna but really all they wanted was to be together. Three months ago Dot was diagnosed with lung cancer and began a slow decline.Mick also began to decline probably because he recognized that she would not be here for long. They clung more tightly to one another it seemed. Today she had to make the difficult decision to let them go. I love this last photo because in if you can see that even up until the end Mick was watching out for Dot. They will be cremated together and will share an urn which I know would make them so happy. I will never forget them or their story. I am so glad to have gotten to know them and glad that they were always able to stay together. I think that is the best gift they could have ever been given. I hope they found their mom and that tonight they are having a joyous reunion. They will be missed here but I know they are fully restored in Heaven and loving being with their mom. There are people, even friends, who don’t understand my obsession with making things right for those who have been treated badly. Those people will never understand the reward that comes with doing that. Knowing that these two who adored one another get to be together forever means so much to me. If that makes me weird I will just accept and embrace that. I love you two and will miss seeing you always. Run free together in paradise.💔
