Recently someone asked me if I was still rescuing “weird” dogs. I told him I don’t consider my dogs “weird”. Yes, they may be old, missing legs, missing eyes or have unique personalities but to me they are all beautiful and more than that they are deserving of love. I cannot imagine being any human or any dog and feeling like no one loves me. No one should ever feel that way. So when I was asked to take a paralyzed dog with a bad eye who had been rejected many times I said yes. Meet Brownie. She will need extensive vet care with Dr. Garcia and with Dr. Torres from Back In Motion. Do we have that money in the rescue account? No, but what I do have is faith that it will come and faith that people will care. I hope next time you see her she is running down the driveway in her new hot wheels! I have thought a lot lately about giving up but today I have a renewed feeling of “Never say die!” And I know I will fight for these dogs until the end of my days. Thank you for everyone who helps and supports us and a special thanks to my sweet friend Kanel for hosting us today and for the wonderful donation of many towels, blankets, fabric, pillows and a fantastic stroller!! We love it and you!!🐶💕❤️🐶

I was kind of concerned today when mommy said we were going to the flea market. Fleas are annoying and gross and not something I want but mom said this flea market was for shopping and eating good food. I got ice cold Sonic water and now I know what all the hype is about. Then mom was going to get me some burnt ends at the BBQ stand but then my dumb sister told mom she had dog food at her house I can eat so we got out of line.🥲🥲💔. I cannot p**p in her bed fast enough now. Buzzkiller. Anyway, I was so good that mom said I can go again and I might even join the car crew. Mom has to get busy and raise the remaining $400 for Moose’s surgery today so I am going to take a nap under the fan!it’s really hot here today!

We went on another adventure today. We went to Austin to adopt two hairless guinea pigs and we need your help naming them!! I took seven of the dogs with me and we had so much fun! We went to Chick Fil A and then ran around the park in Waco for awhile. They were so tired that they did not make one sound on the way back! I love these little road trips! I also want to say THANK YOU!! We raised just over $500 of the $900 we need for Moose’s eye surgery and we are super thankful for that. I can’t wait until he is no longer in pain. Your help caring for these babies in so appreciated.

Sweet Moose was dumped at a small shelter several years ago at age 14 and almost blind. Renee went to pick him up for me and I never saw him again because she fell in love with him! Moose has had ongoing issues with his eyes and now one of them is causing him a lot of pain. He is unexpectedly going to have to have surgery on Tuesday. The cost of this is $915. We also have a $735 bill at Burleson this week. Tomorrow is $5 Friday and I am hoping we raise enough to cover these two things or else Wookie will be selling paw pictures on the internet! Moose may have a few good years left. I hope he can live them pain free and to “suddenly see” better!

Today we went on an adventure!! We drove three hours through the pouring rain to pick up a sofa I bought at an estate sale, made a Sonic run, our favorite restaurant made huge boxes of chicken and cheese for the babies and we ended up at Cima Wholesale where we bought a very unique present for a very special friend! It was a bucket list day for Audi so we squeezed in all the fun! ❤️💕🐶

Recently my car broke down and it was $8,000 to repair it and today it broke down again. So I used the old truck my uncle gave me to take Piper and Leo to the vet where they had full exams, bloodwork, X-rays (basically everything). Leo got a Cytopoint shot and Piper got a long lasting antibiotic shot. Then we all had ice cream! These are the appointments that we have almost daily that I rarely document. Today I paid $1100 myself. Why? Because it is so important for seniors to have regular exams so that there are no surprises. We did learn today that Leo needs a dental soon. He has some very loose teeth and a lot of tarter. He had a dental two years ago. This happens fairly often where we have to repeat procedures. Seniors are expensive. That’s why most rescues don’t want them but I think they are worth it. I would however be happy to catch a break once in awhile!! Thankfully these two are doing pretty well!❤️💕❤️🐶

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to let you know that we lost Stoner last night. Her kidney values escalated, she would not eat or drink and she could not regulate her body temperature. It is very unfortunate that her teeth were not properly cared for earlier in her life because that would have prevented this outcome. I appreciate those of you who prayed for her recovery and who donated for her care. Unfortunately our donations are way down (around 60%) so I paid $1,400 of this bill myself. To date this month I have paid $5,400 in vet bills myself. Our food donations are also way down which has resulted in us eliminating many areas where we were previously feeding. The dogs in Texas are in severe crisis. I am so sorry to have to curtail helping but that’s where we are. I am glad I had the funds to help this time. This girl was so sweet and so deserved to have good vet care. I just wish we could have helped sooner. I pray she is reunited in Heaven either way the previous owner who I know she was grieving over. That would be a truly happy ending.

Of all of the dogs we have ever rescued I probably worry about Abby and Brooke the most. Both of these girls have a condition called cerebellum hypoplasia. This is a neurological condition in which the cerebellum fails to fully develop in the brain. The cerebellum is the part of the brain that manages balance and coordination. This renders the animal unable to walk. They often fall over onto their side and struggle to right themselves. They wildly slap their paws when they want to move and usually spill or break anything in their path! They have a large indoor “condo” and an outside kennel for nice days. They usually only go for car rides when they go to the groomer or to the vet and of course they cannot go on walks. Until now! Today I took them to house and we took these girls and her dog Jackie on a “walk”. Jackie was the only actual walker! They were so happy to get out! I am going to commit to taking them on wagon walks until it gets too hot. I may look into doggie daycare for them also. I want them to have the happiest life but this condition makes it a little harder than normal. Any ideas for adding some more fun into their lives is appreciated!
