Happy birthday Sam !!
Happy birthday to my best friend
Happy birthday to the one and only Samuel
Happy birthday to one of the goofiest chicks I’ve ever met
Happy birthday to the person with the best laugh ever
Happy birthday to my part time bully full time protector
Happy birthday to the first person I felt was family without being blood
I imagine you reading this and smirking thinking of all our hand written notes we’d pass in the halls , and all our late night antics and things we never got caught doing . Thank god , could you imagine ? I hope that you are anyway . I hope you are somewhere looking at the same sky as I am , listening to our favorite Nelly songs and living and loving your life , even without me in it . Because the truth is , if you’re out there , no matter what , I want health and happiness for you and I hope you know I loved you and still do .
If you’re not , and you’re gone I hope you’re haunting me (in a good way ) . ( too dark? , eh maybe, but hey that’s our sense of humor) . If you’re somewhere that you need to be freed from I hope one day there is a way that you or someone can tell us , show us , the way to you .

I loved you so much that when I knew you were gone too long it broke me . I’ve put myself back together, but not too well, there are still things missing, and pieces in the wrong places but I am surviving, somehow. If you can , call your sister her number is still the same as when we were kids , hell send a damn smoke signal . But if you can’t , and there’s anyone that knows anything tell us , please . Please stop this pain , this frustration , this confusion, this void . Not saying something may take away the chance to find her , save her or bury her . Put yourself in my shoes , what would you want ?

Happy Birthday, Sister.

You’d probably be rolling your eyes at me for posting this, but here we are, nearly 21 years of wondering, remembering, and refusing to let go. You’ve been missing longer than you were with us, which is a brutal thing to type, but not enough to stop me from doing it anyway.

I still picture you at every family gathering, probably stealing the last piece of cake and pretending you didn’t. You were the kind of person who left a big mark, and not just because you took forever in the bathroom.

I wonder who you'd be today. I wonder what kind of ridiculous inside jokes we’d have. I wonder what your life would look like if you were here. And I wonder how different mine would be.

But here’s what I don’t wonder: whether you’re still loved, whether you’re still missed, and whether I’m still fighting to bring you home. You matter. You always have. And you’re still one of the most important people in my life, even if you're out there somewhere rolling your eyes at my mushy Facebook post.

If anyone out there knows something, ANYTHING, please say something. Don’t wait another year. Speak up. Truth doesn’t expire, and neither does my determination.

Happy Birthday, Sam. I love you. I miss you. And I’m not done yet.

💜 Kendale

As the days festivities are winding down and we leave the houses of loved ones I am reminded that there is a loved one I haven’t been able to say Merry Christmas too in a very long time. A loved one who became a sister to me and I know loved me as one in return . I think of Sam often , but especially in happy times because she really was such a happy goofy person , and hopefully still is. We love you Sam we miss you more than you know . Love , Vanessa
