It has been quite a while since we posted anything on this page. We want everyone to know that Bread Upon the Waters, Inc. is still alive and well! We have not had much response in this format, but we know there are still some who run across it and may be curious to know about our activities. We continue to receive contributions to assist needy Christians overseas, with preacher support, widow and orphan support, medical needs, disaster relief, and whatever emergencies may arise. Our efforts are directed primarily toward those in the Philippine islands, but not limited only to that part of the world. We can supply donors with receipts for tax purposes.

We will post a few photos of our recent activities. There are pictures of a family of orphans in the Philippines we support monthly, also a widow and her children in Uganda, a widow's house (in the Philippines) damaged by fire which was repaired, and a water project which supplied water to several families in Mindanao. These are just a few samples of the things accomplished through the generosity of loving Christians. We still need your help so that we can continue to help. We appreciate so much all of you who have trusted us to be the messengers of your gifts. We know our Heavenly Father sees and will reward your kindness to His suffering children (Hebrews 6:10). As always, you can contact us by mail: Michael Glaesemann, 264 CR 2125, Burkeville, TX 75932, by email: [email protected], and donations may be made by PayPal to: [email protected].

Just to let everyone know: we are still active! We're sorry to be so negligent in posting information on Facebook. Our regular contributors receive emails at least every three months. If you would like to be added to our email list, send us an email and we'll add you. 2022 has been a busy year for Bread Upon the Waters. In addition to our monthly support for preachers and widows, our first priority has been to provide houses for those displaced by the earthquakes of 2019. For those of you who may not remember, beginning in October of 2019, southern Mindanao was ravaged by a number of strong earthquakes which continued through December of that year. Loving donations have provided houses for hundreds of needy Christians. See the photo of those of the Embassy church. About 40 families received houses. Presently, we are providing funds for another 45 houses in Buhay. (Both Embassy & Buhay are in the area of Kidapawan City.) There is also a photo of the Buhay housing. A brother in Christ who recently went to be with the Lord left us a portion of funds from his retirement accounts. We know it was his desire to have most of this used for the earthquake victims' houses. We believe we will be able to provide homes for most of those who still need them. But we still need more help to provide these Christians with basic necessities of life, such as water and restrooms. We are looking into what this would cost.
Besides the houses, we continue to receive many requests for medical assistance, and for food. The Pandemic as well as the Ukraine crisis have taken their toll on those in the Philippines, as everywhere. But often these people suffer even more from the increased cost of food, fuel, and other needs. We help them from time to time, as we are able to answer their requests. The three children we helped with medical needs (Monisse, Laica, & Mark) to our knowledge are all doing well. Brother Salvador Parbo recently saw Mark Tamles (see photo). It will be several years before he needs more facial surgery. We continue to receive many more requests than we can fulfill to help with various medical needs (dialysis, chemotherapy, surgeries, medicines, etc.). We need a steady flow of donations to be able to maintain an emergency fund. Our contact information is: Michael Glaesemann, 264 County Road 2125, Burkeville, TX 75932. PayPal: [email protected]. Our email is [email protected] and [email protected]. Receipts are provided for those who need them for tax purposes. Thanks for reading! We hope to hear from you.

We have not posted anything on this website for some time, but be assured that our work continues and the needs are still great. The Covid 19 lock downs are creating more hardships for people in the Philippines, making them unable to work, travel, buy foods, etc. Also, many of the crops in southern Mindanao are being destroyed by rats. And there are many families still living in tents (since the earthquakes of 2019) waiting on housing. We have sent funds to several places so that lumber can be cut, and other building materials supplied for them. Also, we continue to receive almost daily appeals for medical assistance--some related to Covid 19, others needing medicines, surgery, chemotherapy, dialysis, etc. The need is overwhelming! But your donations keep coming, and we help as many as we can. If you have any specific questions or concerns, always feel free to contact us. The three children who had surgery (Mark Tamles, Monisse Dulang, & Laica Respontalla) are doing well. All are awaiting their final surgeries. We appreciate all of you who have made this possible. May God increase your ability to give, and allow you to lay up much treasure in Heaven!

We haven't posted anything lately--just busy with Michael's recovery from surgery and other things. But that doesn't mean we haven't been busy also with Bread Upon the Waters. We have responded to several serious medical problems, ranging from appendicitis to cancer. We have also been involved with the ongoing needs of people displaced from their homes because of the earthquakes in 2019. Yes--there are many STILL living in tents! As for little Mark Lloyd Tamles, just compare the photos we posted before his surgery with the one we are posting now. He just had his 6th birthday yesterday. He will still need some minor follow-up surgery soon, but he is doing very well. There are other children we will tell you about later who need surgery to correct an intestinal deformity. As soon as Mark's final surgery is accomplished, we will focus on their needs. We continue to receive requests for help almost daily. The pandemic continues to cause hardships in the Philippines even more than what we have experienced in the US. People are without work, and without adequate food. We still need donations, and please feel free to tell us how you would like the money used. Send checks to: Bread Upon the Waters, c/o Michael Glaesemann, 264 CR 2125, Burkeville, TX 75932. PayPal: [email protected].

At last, little Mark Lloyd Tamles had surgery (last night, USA time), and it was successful! Join with us in praising God for His mercy toward this precious child. We will learn more about a possible future surgery for Mark and keep you informed. We still need help with our emergency fund, to make things such as this possible. We appreciate all who helped with Mark's surgery.

You may have been seeing posts on Facebook about the recent typhoons in the Philippines: Typhoon Rolly and Typhoon Ulysses. Since the end of October, heavy rains have been pounding the northern Philippines. The last couple of days, the province of Cagayan, for example, has been experiencing severe flooding. Just a few photos will show how severe. They had to open all the gates of Magat Dam, which has made the situation even worse. We are receiving many appeals for help with foods and other daily needs. We know many reliable Christians in this area who will assist us in getting this help to those in need as soon as possible. We hope to send funds this coming Monday. Later, after the damages are fully assessed, we will try to help with the rebuilding of homes which were lost. If you are able to contribute, see our contact information. Those of us who suffered through the recent hurricanes in Texas and Louisiana know something of what these folks are going through--but with much fewer resources than we were blessed with. Keep them in your prayers.
