Agora University was pleased to engage in meaningful conversations with Congressman Chris Smith (NJ) and Congressman Riley Moore (WV) on matters at the heart of Agora’s mission: human dignity, civic responsibility, and constructive engagement in the public square.

As members of the U.S. Congress, both leaders play an important role in shaping national and global conversations around human rights, public service, and the moral responsibilities of civic life. In this context, moments of dialogue such as these are both timely and consequential.

Agora’s engagement with U.S. leaders reflects its calling to be more than an academic institution. As a global academic community, Agora seeks to form whole persons and impactful leaders through open dialogue, rigorous scholarship, and a commitment to addressing contemporary challenges. By building meaningful relationships with leaders across the United States, Agora continues to advance its mission in ways that are intellectually serious, publicly engaged, and oriented toward the common good.

On February 22, 2026, in an effort to highlight the power of the visual arts to preserve memory, Agora University was honored to sponsor The 21 Martyrs: Knelt but Not Broken, hosted by Coptic Orphans at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., in commemoration of the eleventh anniversary of the martyrs of Libya. The event featured the special participation of the first-generation American of Egyptian descent actor Jonathan Roumie.

The evening gathered community, civic leaders, and notable dignitaries from across the country, including H.E. Chahinda Emadeldin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Washington, D.C., who delivered a prominent speech reflecting on the enduring sacrifice of the 21 martyrs.

Represented by Chancellor Fr. Dr. Michael Sorial and President Dr. Emmanuel Gergis, Agora University was grateful to take part in this meaningful occasion. As a global academic community, Agora remains dedicated to forming whole persons and leaders from diverse backgrounds who are prepared to engage the complexities of the contemporary world with humility, conviction, and a commitment to human dignity.

We are grateful to Coptic Orphans for bringing together an evening of remembrance and purpose and for their ongoing mission to serve fatherless children in Egypt.
