🚶‍♀️🚲 REMINDER: Tomorrow (Wed 10/7) is International Walk & Roll to School Day! 🐯

Walk, bike, or scooter your way to Terra Centre tomorrow morning! Come a little early for music, a dance party, prizes, and photo ops with the TC Tiger and friends! 🎶

⚠️ Safety reminder: We have requested a uniformed police officer to assist with crossing Burke Centre Parkway from Schoolhouse Woods Rd. to Marshall Pond, but an officer is NOT guaranteed. Please do not send students from the Woods or Commons neighborhoods unattended. Use the crosswalks and make sure traffic in both directions has completely stopped before crossing.

🚗 Kiss & Ride families, please drive carefully and be extra alert for walkers and riders!

💙💛 Everyone’s safety is our highest priority. See you tomorrow!

🌈 REMINDER! Help us Chalk the Walk TOMORROW! 🖍️

Join us tomorrow at 3:30 PM to decorate Terra Centre’s sidewalks with colorful pictures and positive, encouraging messages for Walk & Roll to School Day!

If you can't join us at school, color your neighborhood sidewalks, walking paths, or your driveway, but please be careful with cars!

✨ Chalk provided by the PTA! Bring the kids and get creative with us!

🐯 This is not a drop-off event. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children at all times. If you are meeting your child at school and they aren't normally a walker, please don't forget to update Pickup Patrol!

❌ Please color on SIDEWALKS only, do not color on the school's buildings or any other school property.

‼️📅 IMPORTANT FCPS CALENDAR CHANGE FOR MARCH 2027

FCPS has updated the 2026-27 school calendar to reflect a change in the anticipated date of Eid al-Fitr. The student and staff holiday was originally scheduled one day later, on Wednesday, March 10.

Please note the updated schedule:

🌙 Monday, March 8, 2027: School IS in session. Evening-only observance begins; major school-sponsored events and activities will not take place.

🚫 ‼️Tuesday, March 9, 2027: HOLIDAY — No school for students or staff. THIS IS A CHANGE TO THE PREVIOUS SCHEDULE!

🌙 Wednesday, March 10, 2027: School IS in session and will be an observance day. Certain activities, including major tests, field trips, and mandatory events, will not take place.

⚠️ Please update your calendars! FCPS notes that holidays and observances based on the lunar calendar may shift due to anticipated lunar sightings.

🎨 Calling All Terra Centre Artists! 🎭 📸 🎶

The 2026–2027 National PTA Reflections Art Contest is now accepting entries! This year’s theme is:

✨ “What My Culture Means to Me” ✨

Students are invited to get creative and express what the theme means to them through Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Music Composition, Film Production, or Dance Choreography.

🚸 Help Make Travel to and From Terra Centre Safer! 🚸

FCPS is asking parents and caregivers to share their experiences with traffic and pedestrian safety around our schools through the Safe Routes to School Parent and Caregiver Survey.

The survey takes about 2-3 minutes and is open through Thursday, October 15.

Hey tigers! Next week, on October 7th, all students are invited to walk, scooter or ride bikes to school as part of National Walk & Roll to School Day! And for those who are available, we invite you to come up to school on October 6th, immediately following dismissal, to “Chalk the Walk” by decorating all of the sidewalks and foot paths that lead to school!

While we have submitted a request to FCPD for a uniformed officer to help children cross from Schoolhouse Woods Rd. to Marshall Pond, it is not guaranteed. Please DO NOT send your child from the Woods or Commons neighborhoods unattended, and if we are not provided an officer, please use the utmost care and caution while crossing Burke Centre Parkway! Use the crosswalks and do not cross unless traffic on both sides has come to a complete stop! For all of you who will still take advantage of Kiss & Ride, PLEASE drive carefully and keep your eyes peeled for children and parents crossing BCP & Marshall Pond! EVERYONE’S SAFETY IS OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY!!

📌 REMINDER! The 1st PTA Membership Meeting of the new school year is TONIGHT Wednesday 9/30 from 6-7:30pm in the TCES Cafeteria. We will be joined by Tom Dannan, our FCPS School Board Rep, for a 20-minute Q&A discussion starting around 6:30.

Light refreshments will be served and we will have a place for the kiddos to chill out and play while adults attend the meeting.

Please attend and help us shape what this school year will look like for our kiddos!
