The More We Love

The More We Love Our mission is to connect the community to those in greatest. Creating pathways out of homelessness, addiction, human trafficking and domestic violence.

We run a 24/7 crisis center for women and children in WA State.

Can we tell you a little bit about our Executive Director, Kristine Moreland?

In this video, you can see something that makes Kristine so special. She doesn’t just serve people, she truly sees them.

When Kristine looks someone in the eyes and tells them they are loved, she means it. Whether someone is experiencing homelessness, addiction, trauma, exploitation, or simply walking through one of the hardest seasons of their life, she meets them exactly where they are….with dignity, compassion, and hope.

She doesn’t care about your title, your past, your mistakes, or your circumstances. She will hug you. She will encourage you. She will sit with you in your pain. She will help you find a pathway forward.

For Kristine, this work has never been about a position or a title. It has always been about people. She is the definition of boots-on-the-ground leadership, showing up wherever she is needed and reminding people that they are worthy of love and capable of a different future.

But no one does this work alone.

Behind Kristine stands an incredible team at The More We Love Crisis Center, people who show up every day because they genuinely care. We don’t just provide shelter. We build relationships. We hold hope when someone can’t hold it for themselves. We provide programming, support, accountability, resources, encouragement, and a community that believes healing is possible.

One woman at a time. One child at a time.

Together, we are working to break cycles of poverty, addiction, exploitation, homelessness, and generational trauma. We are helping women rediscover their strength, reunite with their children, pursue recovery, secure housing, find employment, and create lives they never thought were possible.

And none of this would be possible without the incredible community that stands beside us.

To every donor, volunteer, advocate, partner, supporter, and cheerleader….we thank you. You make this work possible. You remind us that we are never doing this alone.

You are not only our constants, you are the constants for every woman and child who walks through our doors. Because of you, they find safety, hope, healing, and a community that refuses to give up on them.

Together, we are showing people that no matter where they have been or what they have endured, they are worthy of love, support, and a pathway forward.

💛 Be Someone’s Constant.

From all of us at The More We Love, thank you for standing with us as we work to make our community stronger, safer, and filled with more hope, one life at a time.

Today, a young woman is safe.

Tonight, she has a bed, a shower, food in her belly, and a locked door between her and the dangers she faced this morning.

Tomorrow, the real work begins.

What people don’t always see is that this work starts long before someone walks through our doors. It starts with learning names, hearing stories, and showing up consistently enough that trust has a chance to grow. It starts with offering a lifeline and being willing to walk alongside someone as they decide whether to take it.

Honestly, we didn’t expect to find ourselves in an encampment today, but alongside Andrea Suarez, that’s exactly where we were. And we are thankful for it.

Every morning, we pray that God would place us in the path of the people who need us most. Today felt like one of those divine appointments. A reminder that when we are willing to show up, God is already there, preparing the way.

One woman safe may not seem like much in a world filled with so much need, but tonight it means everything to her. And for us, it’s a reminder that lives are changed one person, one relationship, and one act of faithfulness at a time.

The billboards are up on Aurora, delivering a clear message: s*x trafficking has victims, and the demand driving it has consequences.

These messages are meant to interrupt that demand and make it personal. Because to Mike Dunn’s point, this could be anybody’s child.

Listen to the emotion in Mike as he talks about his five granddaughters and the reality that any child can be groomed, coerced, and pulled into the s*x trade.

If you’re driving down Aurora, you’ll see these billboards on 93rd on Dunn Lumber and on the side of The Public Storage Building. This is just the beginning, with more messages coming across Seattle, Miami, Atlanta, Denver, and beyond.

Grateful to Mike, DNA&STONE, and every donor who helped bring this powerful campaign to life. To the voices that helped shape this campaign…we are beyond grateful to you all.

What does selfless look like?

It looks like Brian.

When Brian found out we had a mom in our crisis center with five babies under the age of six, the youngest just two months old, who had fled domestic violence and left her vehicle behind nearly six states away in Minnesota, he didn’t hesitate. He booked a flight and drove nearly 1,700 miles back to Seattle so she could have one less barrier standing between her and the life she’s fighting to rebuild for her babies.

He gave up four days of his own life to step into hers.

Tonight when he pulled into our crisis center, the look on her face said everything. Relief, gratitude, and disbelief that somebody would do something this big for her. Her little boys were so excited to see something familiar even if it was just their car.

Brian has been my constant for more than 20 years, my best friend, the Will to my Grace, and also serves as a board member of The More We Love. From the bottom of my heart, thank you, Brian, for being the kind of man who shows up, for this family and for so many others.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Acropolis Pizza and Pasta in Kirkland for once again making our Stronger Together Second Saturday Community Dinner so special. 💛

For the second month in a row, the Acropolis team showed up with generous hearts and amazing food for the women and children we serve. This month’s sunflower theme was a beautiful reminder of resilience, hope, and choosing to focus on the light, even during life’s hardest seasons.

The menu was absolutely incredible: lemon oregano chicken, roasted potatoes, fresh salad, fresh-cut fruit, mousse cups topped with raspberry and mint, and chicken strips for the kids. Every detail was thoughtful, delicious, and prepared with care.

What makes these dinners even more special is the thoughtfulness that the owner Happy brings to every event. Last month, she embraced a butterfly theme. This month, she beautifully incorporated a sunflower theme. These details matter. They create joy. They make the room feel warm and welcoming. They give the women and children we serve an opportunity to gather around something beautiful and simply enjoy being together.

For a few hours, families are able to relax, connect, laugh, and create positive memories. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because people like Happy and the Acropolis team pour their hearts into making these evenings special.

Thank you, Happy, Tammy, Jill, Kellie, Erin, Kathy, Stossi, Christina, and the entire Acropolis team for your generosity, kindness, and continued support. You are helping create moments of joy, dignity, and community for families who need it most, and we are incredibly grateful.

A huge thank you to Amy Walton Photography for spending part of her Saturday with us at our Stronger Together Community Dinner and gifting the women and children at our shelter something truly priceless: family memories.

For many of the families we serve, life has been consumed by survival. When you’re navigating homelessness, trauma, recovery, and uncertainty, family photos often fall to the bottom of the priority list. But Amy gave our families the opportunity to pause, dress up, smile, and simply be together.

The excitement leading up to the photos was incredible. Moms spent time doing their hair and their children’s hair. One mother spent an entire day thrift shopping to find outfits for her family. Children were beaming with excitement. For a few precious hours, the chaos and hardships they have been carrying seemed to fade away.

What Amy created was so much more than photographs. She helped these families feel seen, celebrated, and normal. She gave them the chance to experience something many families take for granted and created memories they will be able to treasure for years to come.

We are incredibly grateful for your generosity, Amy. Thank you for sharing your talent, your time, and your heart with the women and children we serve.

Even more Officers serving our Streets. Please Read and celebrate these men! 🙏

A little over two years ago, Carson joined me on street outreach. He came out carrying parts of his own story and walking through some hard realities. In that time, we connected, and I was deeply moved watching how he showed up for people on the streets. There was something so much more in the way he served.

About a year ago, Carson called and asked if I would be a reference for him. When he told me it was because he was applying to become a Seattle police officer, and that his time doing outreach with us helped shape that decision, I couldn’t help but tear up. Because this is exactly why I bring people to the streets, so they can see the reality, connect to the human beings behind the pain, and sometimes in that process find their purpose.

Carson did just that.

Today was a full-circle moment. Carson, pictured on the far right, came to our crisis center with his fellow police academy graduates bringing supplies and support for our women and children. To see these men choose to give back to the community at the very start of their careers says everything.

And now we get to work alongside them. They will be out there encountering women and children in crisis, and now they know there is a place to call and real pathways out.

This is the ripple effect. One person steps onto the streets, their life shifts, and from that countless more lives can be changed.

We are so proud of Carson and grateful for every graduate who showed up today.

This week, The More We Love helped 53 individuals.

One brave mama made the decision to enter treatment. Pregnant, scared, and unsure of what came next, she reached out for help. Working alongside our law enforcement partners, we were able to bring her into a safe stay, provide food and shelter, and secure a treatment bed so that both she and her baby could begin a safer, healthier future.
Another parent of two, after successfully completing treatment last week, returned to work and signed a lease for a place to call home. This week, they received the keys. What was once uncertainty is now stability, and what once felt out of reach is becoming reality.

Another parent on the road to recovery secured sober transitional housing and is actively working toward reunification with their family. Every day they continue to show up for themselves is another step toward breaking generational cycles and creating a different future for their children.

This week is not measured in numbers, beds, or services provided. It is measured in courage. In parents choosing recovery. In children sleeping safely. In keys handed over, fresh starts embraced, and the quiet moments when someone realizes they no longer have to face tomorrow alone.

This is what hope looks like in action.

Mike Dunn is a hometown hero and Dunn Lumber is the kind of company that pours back into the community it serves. For more than two years now, I’ve watched Mike and his team give more and more to help protect our most vulnerable, the women and children we serve at The More We Love.

To see Mike step so boldly into this campaign alongside DNA&STONE and us, putting a message on the side of his building on Aurora aimed directly at the buyers fueling the exploitation of women and girls, says everything. It’s not about shaming. It’s about disrupting the fantasy, forcing a pause, and making someone think before another woman or girl is bought.

We spend a lot of time looking to elected officials to solve the hardest problems in our communities, but here stands one man and one lumber company willing to step into the fight. Imagine what could happen if more of us united that way.

Mike, I’m humbled by your unwavering support, not only for this work and the women and children we serve, but for the way you’ve stood beside me. Thank you to you and everyone at Dunn Lumber for being our constant.

Last night, we received an after-hours call about a young pregnant woman experiencing homelessness and addiction.

Within an hour, our team responded, connected her to safety, provided food, and secured a treatment bed.

Today, I called the officer back to let him know she made it.

She checked in.

She now has 28 days to fight for her recovery, her unborn baby, and the children waiting for their mother.

This is why the work matters. Every woman who finds safety, enters treatment, and begins healing is a chance to break a cycle and change the future for an entire family.

We are grateful for the officers who cared enough to make the call and trusted us to respond.
