The Cowboy Social Club

The Cowboy Social Club Founded in 2012, the CSC is a non-profit (501c3) organization dedicated to keeping the west alive & giving back to the community.

We meet the 2nd Saturday of the month & do events in between. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to be guest! The Cowboy Social Club is a group of friends who share a love of the American west in all its forms, be it the frontier history, big screen and small screen heroes or the songs that echo the three. If you have worked in the western entertainment industry of film, TV or music,

or simply grew up watching Maverick and the High Chaparral, were glued to screen to see the swagger of John Wayne, the slow cool of Randolph Scott and the everyman resilience of Jimmy Stewart, or can sing along with Gene, Roy or Marty: then you are like the rest of us in the Cowboy Social Club. If you are currently working on a film, know of an upcoming event related to the old west, or would simply like to share an experience involving it – we’d love to hear from you.

Saturday's meeting was special. Not only did we elected the 2026 Posse (Board) but we had a special guest speaker. Jerry Rishe did a wonderful program on the history of cowboy music.

TOP 10 REASONS WHY THIS EVENT IS FOR YOU

10. You have had a serious discussion at one time in your life about whether something is a casserole or a hotdish. If you say “hotdish”, you are from Minnesota and clearly your answer is correct. We Minnesotans know a casserole is a baking dish and a hotdish is a meal… well except for vegetable sides such as green bean casserole, scalloped corn casserole, etc…

9. You have ever called something made with either Jello or pudding a “salad”

8. You can tell the distinctive umami difference between a casserole made with cream of mushroom vs golden mushroom soup.

7. You know a good casserole starts with a can or two of Campbells, a pound of ground beast or a can of tuna. (If you said it must include a block of Velveeta, you’re probably from Michigan)

6. You have a copper Jello mold on your wall or wish you did (giant decorative wooden spoon & fork also qualifies).

5. Have multiple recipe cards that just say “Casserole” or “Hotdish” as the name.

4. One or more of your Hotdish Recipes say “For Special Occasions” and include such spendy items as mixed nut meats in it or crunchy chow mein noodles to top.

3. You have a strong opinion on whether potato chips are necessary on top of tuna casserole. (hint – absolutely they belong it’s the peas that are optional).

2. You have recipe cards that also has the quantities to “make for 50 people” on the reverse side.

And the #1 Reason this event is for you… You enjoy spending time with fun people and helping raise money for worthy causes (Alzheimer Los Angeles & the Burbank VFW).
