FIRST Robotics Competition Team 980 ThunderBots is an award-winning, 501(c)(3) non-profit educational public charity and registered Charitable Trust with the State of California Attorney General. We are a dedicated group of mentors, sponsors, and teachers working with students (through Grade 12) in a fast-paced robotics project. Each year, FIRST creates a new game to stimulate students’ critical
thinking skills, providing an environment that encourages growth in problem-solving and teamwork. Our program engages students with professional mentors with years of experience in advanced development projects and business management. Besides creating and competing with a student-built robot, our students also perform other essential functions for the team, developing skills in marketing, communications, finance, and sound business practices. Our FIRST graduates have access to over $20M in college scholarships this year.
