Frito and his siblings had the ROUGHEST start in life. Cut out of their mom, in a backyard c-section surgery, and living on Skid Row. Without the help of the incredible and , mama Bijou and puppies would most definitely not be here today. Now one of the puppies, Frito, has been diagnosed with PRAA.

Persistent Right Aortic Arch is a congenital defect, which essentially causes a blood vessel to constrict his esophagus. This means he is not able to keep ANY solids down- surviving only on a liquid diet as his esophagus continues to be squeezed by his own vessels. This can be deadly, especially the longer we wait, but it’s also operable! As always, this operation is VERY expensive and specialised. The first quote we got was $11,000 - $14,000 🤯 and this already includes a hefty rescue discount. 😭

We are pursuing other quotes, but considering this is a speciality procedure and requires a couple of days of hospitalisation, we don’t have many options. Regardless, we will do what’s best for Frito, we just have to start fundraising ASAP to be prepared for whatever - especially since we will likely have to get this done next week to avoid any lifelong issues. Anything would help - a share, a repost, a donation, even an engagement. Thank you SO MUCH for your continued support! We love you ❤️🐾

Who let the dogs out

This is becoming ridiculous. My chickens have become so brave, they jump into the puppy pen, and STEAL puppy kibble from the babies. I love the socialising, I’m not down for the bullying. What would you do? ❤️🐾

Tyrannosaurus Pecks is NOT sure about his new neighbors. They’re tiny, fast, and SO nosey. We ARE sure about them though, they’re perfect - but we STILL don’t have names! Drop your ideas below! ❤️🐾

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all our mamas! These wonderful ladies are still looking for their furever homes, and have been nothing short of miraculous mamas in the meantime! They each raised, fed, loved, and created some of the cutest puppies you’ve ever seen, and yet they are still trying to find humans to love THEM! Could this Mother’s Day be the day you apply for a mama? ❤️🐾

How wild is this??? First photo is Casper. A sweet baby we rescued from in 2023 alongside not only his mom and siblings, but also his aunt and cousins! Thank to opening up her home to BOTH these families, they all got to grow up together!! 🥰

Cut to almost two years later, Casper’s amazing adopters still foster for us while his mom, Chicken, is still in our care. Now that he’s all grown, you can see JUST how much he looks like his mama! He may be a giant shepherd looking fluff, while she’s a short-haired pittie/cattle dog but the resemblance is uncanny! Just look at their beautiful eyes! 👀

Speaking of which, anyone out there want to adopt Chicken and her beautiful eyes? You’ll have the most low maintenance dog in the world. She’s dog selective, but if you leave her alone, she won’t care who she shares her space with. It’s like having a cat.. in a pittie body! She’s crate, potty, and leash trained, and needs so little: just some love and a bed! Reach out today if you wanted to foster or adopt - you won’t regret it! ❤️🐾

It’s time to shine a spotlight on some wonderful dogs we have in our rescue, who have not had any luck getting adopted. The puppies tend to get adopted quickly - they run off to their happily every afters at 8-12 weeks old and typically leave behind their moms, who put in all the hard work and are just as deserving. These adult dogs still being with us means that we are limited in who we can pull, as all our resources and foster space is being used on the girls left behind. If we can get just two of this pack adopted, we would be able to rescue another entire litter with mama!

🐾Rosie - She is the last puppy from Saphora’s litter. Even mama got adopted before this sweet angel. She’s just over 1, fully trained, and needs an adopter who loves training and smart dogs! She’s friendly with everyone!

🐾Meadow - She is our beauty queen! She has the husky prey drive and can be dog selective so would do well being the only dog in an active household, or we can help with slow introductions. No small pets.

🐾Ry - Just a sweet scared girl who would love a yard and a buddy to play with. She has a low grade heart murmur which we would pay to check annually - no medications necessary.

🐾Sadie - She can be dog selective so would do best as the only pet but boy does this lady love her people! She’s adorable! Cuddles all day long for you!

🐾Chicken - Such a well trained soulful girl, would do best as the only dog in a home. She’s incredibly low maintenance!!

🐾Brandy - She’s been in the rescue over two years and it’s baffling because she’s 100% perfect. Unless you’re a squirrel.

Which one is your favourite? Can you help us find these girls loving homes so we can rescue more families? Share and tell everyone today pleaseeee! ❤️🐾

Fostering is many wonderful things. It teaches you so much about dogs, about patience, love, training, decompression. And in between all those moments filled with cleaning up p**p, cuddling, and feeding, you get a moment like this. Then you blink, and your tiny newborns are three weeks old and ready to start solids. And their mom, who used to be an anxious, confused, and scared mama dog, is now fully relaxed and being incredible at the job that seems impossible. This here is why we do this. ❤️🐾
