VICTORY FOR MOMO DIVISION AT THE NORTH WEST REGIONAL ASSEMBLY
Hon. Ujambeng Stephen Andong Elected President of the Finance Committee

Bamenda, 25th May 2026

Elections of Committee Presidents of the North West Regional Assembly were held today during the Budgetary Session of the Assembly in Bamenda.

In a keenly contested race for the strategic office of President of the Finance Committee, Hon. Ujambeng Stephen Andong, Regional Councillor for Momo Division, faced two challengers.

Following a transparent campaign and democratic elections conducted by the Bureau of the Assembly, Hon. Ujambeng Stephen Andong emerged victorious and was duly declared President-elect of the Finance Committee.

The Finance Committee is one of the most critical organs of the Regional Assembly, charged with:
1. Examining the draft budget and accounts of the Region;
2. Overseeing revenue mobilization and budget ex*****on;
3. Ensuring transparency and accountability in the management of regional resources.

Hon. Ujambeng’s election is a vote of confidence in his experience, integrity, and commitment to fiscal discipline. It also places Momo Division at the centre of financial oversight for the North West Region.

Speaking after his victory, Hon. Ujambeng thanked his colleagues for the trust bestowed on him and pledged to work with all Councillors to ensure that every franc allocated by the State and raised internally is used for the development and benefit of the people of the North West Region.

Members of the SDF party turned out massively today at the Andek Municipal Grand stand during the celebration of the 20th May National Day.

For a party that, in recent times, seemed to experience low participation and declining visibility, today’s turnout speaks volumes. It felt more like a rebirth, a renewed resolution, and a clear sign that the spirit of the Social Democratic Front is still alive among its supporters.
